This is NOT a post designed to shame. Not at all. Rather, this is a post to consider the purpose of exercise. In my humble opinion, it is to remain fully functional. And joyful. Sure, aesthetics are sweet. Who doesn’t love feeling good in their shorts or their bathing suit or whatever else? But at some point that may take a backseat. Especially as you mature. And you realize that your body is changing. And that the things you used to do with ease are no longer easy. What if you considered reconsidering? What if you looked like your movement menu as something you can add things into or subtract out of depending on how it is helping you continue doing the things you want and need to do in your life? So as you do that, consider that you may need the following to shovel yourself out of (or into in our case) your house:

āœ…You need strength.
āœ…You need power.
āœ…You need attention to form to keep from hurting yourself.
āœ…You need endurance.
āœ…āœ…āœ…And you CAN train for this! (And age is not an excuse. You got this!)

Meet Ramon!!!! Thrilled to have Ramon bring us some DANCE!!!!!šŸ’ƒ

Ramon Salomon is a personal trainer and the founder of Caribbean Rhythm.

Originally from the Dominican Republic, Ramon moved to New York City at age 14, bringing with him a lifelong passion for dance. He currently teaches group fitness and dance classes and provides one-on-one personal training throughout the Merrimack Valley. He is also the proud father of three boys.

If you are looking to spice up your workouts, Caribbean Rhythm (CR) is a great way to get into shape while having fun.

Kelly is a Kripalu RYT 500hr. and designs adaptive classes to allow for safety, comfort and challenge therefore creating an environment where students of all levels can grow their practice and feel welcome encouraging all bodies and abilities to move at their own pace and comfort level.Ā

YES!! We have designed our waitlist to work. You won’t hang out in waitlist limbo for long! This is why:

āœ”ļø Our studios have a 10-hour cancellation policy (24-hours for private classes, workshops, health coaching sessions) for our studio classes. Any class cancelled within 10 hours of class will have used their class credit (unlimited pass holders and unlimited members will be charged a $10 fee as an equivalent). Exceptions will be made to our policy in emergency and sensitive situations. We completely understand that life happens and it is not always possible to follow through on every commitment made! There are no hard feelings for a cancellation or a miss, we simply must maintain the integrity of our policy.

āœ”ļø The software is fully automated so please cancel yourself from class when you know you can not attend even if within the 10-hours before class to allow someone on the waitlist to come in. If you don’t, those on the waitlist may not get the opportunity to come in.

How does the waitlist work?

āœ”ļø We offer a waitlist for full classes. Putting yourself on the waitlist is like reserving yourself for class. You can be automatically pushed into class up to one hour before class. If you decide you can’t keep the reservation if you get into class, please remove yourself so the next person in line has the opportunity to potentially get into class.

āœ”ļø Please don’t text/email the studio to cancel as we are teaching or coaching and can not respond in a timely manner to affect change on the roster. Head to the scheduling software and cancel yourself.

āœ”ļø Class no-shows will lose their class credit if on a limited class pass. (Those on an unlimited pass will be charged a fee of $20.) No exceptions are made for no-shows. We completely understand that life happens and it is not always possible to follow through on every commitment made! There are no hard feelings for missing, we simply must maintain the integrity of our policy and design the policy to encourage canceling before class, even if late.

Motivate’s Story

MotivateĀ® Mission: MotivateĀ® strives to inspire you to become stronger and healthier through thoughtful movement, nutrition and community in order to enhance the vibrancy and longevity of your life.

MotivateĀ® was born out of a love of community and of coming alongside people to help them achieve their health and wellness goals. I found barre after son #3. I found it during a time of my life when I felt overwhelmed and depleted. It gave me some much-needed ME time. A byproduct was that in the process of taking a few classes a week, I became stronger and more balanced than I had ever been in all my years in competitive sports. I fell in love and needed to share it with everyone willing to listen and partake.

After teaching in Newburyport for about 8 years, I made the entrepreneurial leap to open my own studio. I found a dear spot in downtown Newburyport which made it even sweeter. The ability to take class and then walk a few paces to grab coffee or a fresh-pressed juice...or a glass of wine :-), created the sense of local community that I desired. It also as mimicked the feel of the studio where my love of barre began. It came full circle.

Adding the cardio and cycle...and most recently, nutrition coaching to the studio only made it sweeter, sweatier, and more well rounded. You can find everything here...strength and length as well as shred and sweat. And you get it all in a smaller instructor-client ratio to ensure sound form and personal attention. Our instructors are trained and certified in barre as it was originally intended: as a dynamic, full-body, joint-safe workout that strengthens and stretches all the major muscle groups in the body that originates in the Lotte Berk Method. MotivateĀ® Barre is set to fun and upbeat music and combines ballet barre work, core conditioning, yoga, Pilates, and orthopedic exercises. The controlled movements are very focused, effective, and safe. (No coordination is necessary.) Proper alignment and form is the primary focus. Hands-on adjustments are built into class to take each client to their personal best. Incorporated into each session are active stretches to develop more toned, sculpted, lengthened, and supple muscles. The entire body and mind are constantly working throughout each session. Every position is cued to properly achieve and maintain core engagement. Through this process, your body, posture, and physical awareness will be transformed. No area of the body is left undiscovered in a barre class.
