1. It protects your consistency
Booking ahead turns intention into action. When it’s on the calendar, movement stops being optional and starts being part of the routine—especially on busy weeks.
ā€œI already booked itā€ is a powerful motivator.

2. It reduces decision fatigue
When life is full, deciding whether to work out can be the hardest part. Pre-booking removes the mental debate and frees up energy for everything else.

3. It increases follow-through
You are far more likely to show up to something you’ve committed to in advance. It’s a small act of accountability that pays off in results.

4. It helps you get into the classes you love
Popular time slots fill. Booking ahead means no waitlists, no disappointment, and no scrambling at the last minute.

5. It supports smarter scheduling (without guilt)
When you book ahead, instructors can plan better, energy in the room is higher, and the experience is smoother. Everyone benefits—but subtly and naturally.

6. It reinforces the habit loop
Cue → routine → reward.
Booking ahead becomes part of the cue, strengthening the habit of showing up week after week.

7. It’s a form of self-care, not pressure
Pre-booking is a way of saying: ā€œFuture me matters.ā€ It’s not about obligation—it’s about choosing yourself in advance.

8. It keeps momentum during busy seasons
Travel, holidays, schedule shifts—booking ahead helps clients stay anchored even when life gets chaotic.

Not sure if ā€œMotivate Matesā€ captures the essence, but let’s give it a whirl!!

Because humans don’t stick to habits in isolation—we stick to relationships.

Here’s the straight truth, especially in movement and health:

1. Community is the glue when motivation fades

Movement habits aren’t linear. Energy dips. Life happens. Motivation lies to us.
Community steps in when willpower taps out.

When people know they’ll be seen, missed, and welcomed, they show up even on ā€œmehā€ days. That consistency matters more than intensity.

Habit starts the engine. Community keeps it running.

2. Belonging regulates the nervous system

From a physiological standpoint, humans are wired for connection. Safe social environments:
• lower stress hormones
• improve emotional regulation
• increase dopamine and oxytocin (the ā€œstick with itā€ chemicals)

Translation: when people feel safe and connected, their bodies are more open to change. Movement lands better.

3. Identity beats discipline every time

People don’t just become ā€œsomeone who works out.ā€
They become someone who belongs here.

Once movement is tied to identityā€”ā€œthis is my place, these are my peopleā€ā€”it stops being a task and starts being part of who they are. That’s when habits become durable.

4. Community creates accountability without shame

The best accountability isn’t rigid or punitive. It’s relational.

People show up because:
• someone noticed when they were gone
• someone celebrated their progress
• someone else is walking a similar path

That kind of accountability feels supportive, not heavy.

5. Joy is a retention strategy

This one’s big—and you already know it instinctively.

People don’t stay consistent because they should.
They stay because it feels good to walk into a room where they’re known, welcomed, and allowed to be human.

Joy → consistency → results → more joy.
That loop doesn’t happen alone.

āø»

Bottom line:
Movement builds strength in the body.
Community builds strength in the person.

And strong people keep moving—long after motivation fades.🧔

Some updates to our schedule in 2026!!

When we update our schedule, it’s based on one or more of a few things:
āœ…the need to diversify the schedule better due to client demand,
āœ…changing instructor schedules, āœ…additions to our offer offerings

Here is to an even stronger 2026!šŸ’ŖšŸ»

One of the more interesting factoids I came across recently is that it is between the ages of 30 and 40 that our health behaviors will really affect what comes later for us, especially during menopause.

So perhaps it is a much larger conversation we should all be having together.

Join us for our next book club as we read The New Menopause by Dr. Mary Claire Haver.

We like to keep our book clubs smaller, and more intimate so space is limited. Please sign up on our events to have on our website.

Introducing: The Heart Behind the Hustle — A Motivate.Ā® Instructor Spotlight Series

At Motivate., we are so lucky to move with some of the most generous, dedicated, ridiculously talented humans on the planet. And while teaching is joyful and deeply fulfilling, it’s also a role that asks a lot of a person—physically, mentally, emotionally.

Our instructors don’t just show up and press play.

They create, they prepare, they study, they adapt, they hold space, and they pour their energy into making every single class feel personal. They lift us up even on days when their own tanks may not be full. They teach because they love it.

Because YOU matter.
Because community matters.

So as the year comes to a close, we’re shining a light on our three Lead Instructors—the ones who teach the most classes across our studios, who show up again and again with heart, grit, humor, sweat, creativity, and care. The ones who probably field more slacks and texts from me than they really want.

And here’s the special part:
We’re using your words—your reviews, your gratitude, your reflections—to thank them.

This series isn’t written by me… it’s written by our community. It’s your love letter to the people who lift us up class after class. and there were way more than I could ever. And there were so many more amazing reviews than I could ever use for this series.

Stay tuned as we share their stories, quirks, superpowers, and the beautiful ways they’ve impacted your lives.
Because behind every great class… is an even greater human. 🧔

Today, meet Jess. She leads the Rowley Studio.

We have sooooo many stories to share!! Join us!🧔

Menopause is inevitable…feeling confused, dismissed, or alone doesn’t have to be. We’ll use Dr. Haver’s science-backed, straight-talking guide as a springboard for real conversation about:
- What’s actually happening in our bodies in peri-, meno-, and post-menopause
- Hormones, HRT, and other options for symptom relief
- Sleep, mood, brain fog, bone health, and body composition
- How to better advocate for ourselves with healthcare providers
- Lifestyle tools—movement, nutrition, stress, joy—that help us thrive in this stage

This will be a judgment-free, sales-free, ā€œask anythingā€ space. You do not have to finish the book to come—bring your dog-eared copy, your highlights, your half-read pages, or just your curiosity and questions.

The New Menopause: Navigating Your Path Through Hormonal Change with Purpose, Power, and Facts by Dr. Mary Claire Haver.

Motivate’s Story

MotivateĀ® Mission: MotivateĀ® strives to inspire you to become stronger and healthier through thoughtful movement, nutrition and community in order to enhance the vibrancy and longevity of your life.

MotivateĀ® was born out of a love of community and of coming alongside people to help them achieve their health and wellness goals. I found barre after son #3. I found it during a time of my life when I felt overwhelmed and depleted. It gave me some much-needed ME time. A byproduct was that in the process of taking a few classes a week, I became stronger and more balanced than I had ever been in all my years in competitive sports. I fell in love and needed to share it with everyone willing to listen and partake.

After teaching in Newburyport for about 8 years, I made the entrepreneurial leap to open my own studio. I found a dear spot in downtown Newburyport which made it even sweeter. The ability to take class and then walk a few paces to grab coffee or a fresh-pressed juice...or a glass of wine :-), created the sense of local community that I desired. It also as mimicked the feel of the studio where my love of barre began. It came full circle.

Adding the cardio and cycle...and most recently, nutrition coaching to the studio only made it sweeter, sweatier, and more well rounded. You can find everything here...strength and length as well as shred and sweat. And you get it all in a smaller instructor-client ratio to ensure sound form and personal attention. Our instructors are trained and certified in barre as it was originally intended: as a dynamic, full-body, joint-safe workout that strengthens and stretches all the major muscle groups in the body that originates in the Lotte Berk Method. MotivateĀ® Barre is set to fun and upbeat music and combines ballet barre work, core conditioning, yoga, Pilates, and orthopedic exercises. The controlled movements are very focused, effective, and safe. (No coordination is necessary.) Proper alignment and form is the primary focus. Hands-on adjustments are built into class to take each client to their personal best. Incorporated into each session are active stretches to develop more toned, sculpted, lengthened, and supple muscles. The entire body and mind are constantly working throughout each session. Every position is cued to properly achieve and maintain core engagement. Through this process, your body, posture, and physical awareness will be transformed. No area of the body is left undiscovered in a barre class.
