Expertise Is Everything
Dr. Marc S. Fineberg was born and raised in Western New York. Upon graduating from Williamsville North High School and entering Syracuse University as a biology major, it was his career goal to become an academic orthopaedic surgeon who took care of sports teams in Western New York.
This would allow him to merge his interests in the sciences, teaching, sports and his hometown community. Since that time, Dr. Fineberg has sought out the best educational opportunities to prepare him for taking on this challenge. After stops in Syracuse, Chicago, New York, and Boston to further his education, he returned to Buffalo to join UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine.
Growth of Dr. Fineberg’s clinical practice has provided him many teaching opportunities. Over the years he has continued to teach orthopaedic surgery residents, fellows and medical students. He has served as a preceptor for various academic programs, including physician assistant, athletic training, physical therapy and college and high school programs. Dr. Fineberg is very active in all of the orthopaedic department’s educational opportunities, such as lecturing, journal clubs, course administration, role modeling in the office, training in surgical techniques and research mentoring.
Dr. Fineberg has immersed himself in local sports medicine team care. This started with the University at Buffalo Bulls and has included many local high school teams, community events, the Buffalo Destroyers (Arena Football League) and Buffalo Bandits (National Lacrosse League). He currently serves as team physician for the Buffalo Bills (National Football League), Buffalo Sabres (National Hockey League) and UB Bulls (NCAA Division I Athletics). His care has not only applied to athletes at every level but is extended to the coaches, administrators, support staff, families and friends.
