The Symbol That Started It All

At the heart of Embrace the Difference® is a simple yet powerful symbol: a square, peacefully embraced by a circle of connected circles. It’s more than just a design—it’s a reminder of what truly matters.

This symbol was created by Robyn Zimmer, a mother, artist, and advocate, inspired by her son Sam, who has special needs. Through her personal journey, Robyn saw how differences can challenge us—but also how kindness and connection can uplift and unite us all.

The square in the center represents someone who feels different, alone, or misunderstood. But the truth is, that square could be you or me—at any point in our lives. We all have moments where we feel like we don’t belong, when we’re struggling silently, or facing challenges no one else can see.

The interconnected circles around the square represent the people who surround us with compassion, strength, and support—reminding us that we are never truly alone. Together, the symbol speaks to the power of inclusion and the beauty of human connection.

Wearing this symbol is a quiet but bold declaration:
You believe in kindness. You value inclusion. You know we are all connected, and that everyone deserves to be embraced just as they are.

What began as a mother’s way of expressing love has grown into a movement. Today, thousands wear this symbol to show support, spark conversations, and give back to causes that matter.
