🕊️ Holding Every Message Up to Scripture
In a culture filled with voices claiming to speak for God, it’s essential that we hold everything we read, hear, and believe up to the truth of Scripture. 📖✨ God’s Word remains our steady and reliable authority.
Our latest blog post discusses the recent Unshaken Faith podcast episode on Jen Hatmaker’s Awake and why discernment matters more than ever in a confused culture. 🌿
✨ At Hope Counseling, we often walk with people through seasons of pain, questions, and deep discouragement. In moments like these, we’re reminded of these powerful words performed by Beautiful Eulogy:
We will not lose heart
Even though this present age will waste away
We will surely suffer
But it's a slight momentary trouble
The deconstruction is painful
But the transformation is beautiful
When we the children of God are crushed
Under the heavy affliction of this world
Be reminded that it's weightless
In comparison to the eternal measure of God's glory
We have lost our eyes for the unseen
And have swallowed the false hope of the visible
We must realize the empty grave
And revel in the certainty of His resurrection
With assurance of renewal
Considering it worthy to suffer for the faith
So we will worship while we wait
What a reminder that even when life feels heavy, Christ’s resurrection is our anchor, and His glory far outweighs our present trials (2 Corinthians 4:16–18). Suffering is real—but so is the promise that God is making all things new.
If you’re walking through a difficult season, you don’t have to walk it alone. We’re here to listen, support, and point you to the lasting hope found in Him.
🩵 Worship while you wait. Hope is alive.

🌎 Today is World Kindness Day- a beautiful reminder that true kindness begins with God Himself. His kindness is not just a feeling, but an active, steadfast love that leads us to repentance and transformation.
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. - Ephesians 4:32
At Hope Counseling, we believe kindness is more than being “nice” - it’s reflecting the heart of Christ to a hurting world. Let’s look for ways today (and every day) to extend grace, compassion, and forgiveness, just as He has shown to us. 🌿🩵

🇺🇸 As we approach Veterans Day, let’s do more than simply say thank you- let’s show our gratitude through action. ❤️
Here are some meaningful ways to support America’s wounded warriors (inspired by the Wounded Warrior Project):
🚗 Offer a ride- Many veterans, especially older or injured ones, may need help getting to medical appointments or the store.
💌 Reach out- Write or call a veteran you know. A simple note of gratitude can mean so much.
🤝 Check in during hardship- If your community faces a flood, storm, or power outage, see if any veterans nearby could use help.
🗣️ Speak up- At local meetings or in your community, advocate for veteran care, access, and employment opportunities.
🕊️ Start a conversation- Ask veterans to share their stories. Listen with compassion. Sometimes the best support begins with being present.
At Hope Counseling, we honor the courage and sacrifice of those who have served- and we stand ready to support them and their families.🩵

🕊️ “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord!’” — Psalm 122:1
God created us for community—and the church is His beautiful design for it. 🏡💒 When we gather with other believers, we find joy, encouragement, and the reminder that we’re not alone in our struggles or our faith.
Don’t underestimate the power of showing up. Your presence matters. Your church family needs you, and you need them. 🩵

At Hope Counseling, we understand how difficult it can be to rebuild trust—whether in relationships, with yourself, or in God. Our clinical Christian counselors walk alongside clients with both professional expertise and compassionate faith, helping them navigate the pain of broken trust and rediscover the safety that comes from resting in God’s steadfast love. If you’re ready to take a step toward healing and connection, we would be honored to walk that path with you. 🩵
🍂 Rest is not a reward—it’s a rhythm God designed for our good. In a busy world, slowing down can feel uncomfortable, but true rest refreshes both body and soul. Jesus invites us to lay down our burdens and find peace in Him: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
Take time this season to breathe, reflect, and be renewed. 🩵

🌿 The Good News of the Gospel
God is our holy Creator who made us to know Him, love Him, and walk in obedience to His perfect Word. Yet every one of us has fallen short—we’ve sinned against Him, and the consequence of sin is death. But in His great mercy, God does not desire that we remain separated from Him. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to take our punishment by dying on the cross and rising again, conquering sin and death. When we turn from sin and trust in Jesus, God forgives us, gives us a new heart, and welcomes us into His family. Through His grace, we can live each day for His glory and look forward to eternal life with Him. ✝️
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 6:23 (ESV)

🌿 Thinking About Finding a Counselor?
If you’re a Christian, it may be important to you to see a counselor who shares your faith. You may notice some therapists call themselves Christian counselors, others biblical counselors, and others mention that they integrate spirituality into therapy — but what’s the difference?
At Hope Counseling, we believe in the authority of Scripture and use it as our guide for every counseling approach. Scripture is the lens through which we view all of life and practice, not the other way around. While we will never impose our beliefs, those seeking a Christ-centered perspective in therapy will find a warm welcome here.

We Are Changing Our Name And Adding Counselors To Serve You!
We have some exciting news! Good news is always best in the form of a story, so we wanted to give you some background to what is happening.
For years Christy Samms, LPCC-S has been seeing clients in Lorain and Cuyahoga Counties. A few years ago she started her own practice, Christy Samms Counseling and Consultation Services off Oak Point Road on the Lorain/Amherst border. She rented an office and got her husband to create a website send out some referral letters, and market her counseling services.
Business quickly grew as word got out about Christy’s counseling. She started with a goal to see ten clients a week, but that ten clients per week quickly turned into 15 or 2o! After about a year, Christy was at capacity and was having to turn clients away. Sometimes as many as 2 potential clients per day would have to be turned away simply because we didn’t have any more capacity.
Clearly, the practice needed to expand.
It so happens that Christy’s husband, Daniel (me) is a marketing and business growth consultant. After a few conversations about Christy’s long-term vision for the practice, we (she and I) developed a plan to bring that vision into reality.
We are initiating two key steps for that plan right now.
We have changed the name of the practice from “Christy Samms Counseling and Consultation Services” to “Hope Counseling and Consultation Services.” The name has two purposes. First, we wanted a name that reflected the fact Christy is not the only counselor. Second, we want to send the message that wholeness is possible. There is always hope. That’s why we are here.
We are hiring more counselors! The vision for Hope Counseling is about more than just expansion. We want to grow in quality as we expand our capacity. We want counselors that share our vision and values, licensed consolers with unique skill sets to provide premium care to our clients. So, we have taken great care in selecting our first new hire. You’ll find out about that person soon. For now, we just want you to know we are hiring, and that we are committed to hiring only counselors that bring the same level of quality care Christy has been providing for years.
We still have some really exciting news to share, but we’re saving that for the next story. For now, have a look at our new website https://hopecounselingcs.com/ and help us spread the word!
