Equipment Spotlight: Dynamometer ✋

This small tool plays a big role in therapy. A dynamometer measures how strong your hand and forearm muscles are.

Why does grip strength matter?
• Opening jars and containers
• Carrying groceries
• Turning doorknobs
• Buttoning clothes and daily tasks
• Returning to work or hobbies after injury or surgery

Grip strength is also an important indicator of overall hand function and progress during rehabilitation. By measuring it regularly, therapists can track improvement and adjust your treatment plan to help you regain strength safely.

Sometimes the smallest tools help us measure the biggest progress.

What progress really looks like ❤️

Progress in therapy isn’t always big, dramatic moments.
More often, it looks like the little things:

• Getting out of a chair a little easier
• Walking a little farther without stopping
• Sleeping better at night
• Carrying groceries without thinking twice
• Reaching a shelf that used to feel impossible

Sometimes progress is quieter than people expect—but it’s meaningful. Those small wins add up to stronger bodies, more confidence, and more independence.

We celebrate the big milestones, but we also celebrate the small ones… because those are the steps that get you there.

3 simple things to protect your back 🧍‍♂️

Back pain is common, but small daily habits can make a big difference.

Try these tips:
• Lift close to your body – Keep items near your center to reduce strain on your spine.
• Avoid staying in one position too long – Stand up, stretch, or walk every 30–60 minutes.
• Engage your core – Gentle abdominal tightening helps support your back during daily tasks.

Your spine works hard for you every day—taking a few small steps to protect it can help prevent pain and injury.

📞 If back pain is already slowing you down, physical therapy can help you move and feel better. Call PPT to learn more or schedule an evaluation: 985-748-7878

How strength protects your joints 💪

Weak muscles make joints work harder, which can lead to pain and irritation. Strong muscles help absorb stress, improve movement, and support your joints during everyday activities.

The good news? Strength can improve at any age, and the right exercises can make a big difference.

📞 If joint pain is limiting you, physical therapy can help. Call PPT to learn more or schedule an evaluation: 985-748-7878

What does a therapy session actually look like? 👀

Many people imagine therapy as painful exercises or complicated equipment—but most sessions are much more comfortable and personalized than you might expect.

A typical physical or occupational therapy session may include:
• Talking with your therapist about how you’re feeling and what you’re experiencing
• Hands-on treatment to reduce pain, swelling, or stiffness
• Guided exercises to improve strength, balance, or coordination
• Practicing real-life activities to make everyday tasks easier
• Education on posture, movement, and ways to prevent future problems

Every session is tailored to YOU—your goals, your comfort level, and the things you want to get back to doing.

Therapy isn’t about pushing through pain. It’s about steady progress, encouragement, and helping you move and function with confidence.
