It’s been over a year since I posted last. It’s been a hard year but I am currently focusing on finding joy and beauty around me. I decided to make a bouquet out of the flowers I had to cut back due to them growing into the walking area or were falling down. I’d say that’s the prettiest “trash” I’ve ever saved. ☀️

I got my first seeds started for the year-onion seeds. I’m experimenting with starting them hydroponically to get them started and will then put them in a soil block. Yellow onions on the right, red onions on the left. If this works I’ll plant more of each the same way, if not I’ll start them in the starter domes. I have several weeks before I can plant anything else but I’m excited that the 2024 garden season has officially begun!

See this huge bowl of green beans? There’s at least a gallon ziplock worth. I pick this many from my garden every few days for around 2 months each summer. They started out as a packet of seed that was less than $5 that were heirloom, organic, non gmo seeds. That means that my produce doesn’t even have crap in the seeds that produces them. I will then save seeds from these because they are heirloom and will remain true to their parent plant.

I home can them with only water and a pinch of salt, or freeze or dry them with nothing added to them. I know EXACTLY what my family is eating. Not to mention that I dry the leaves to add to my amazing green powder that I add to my morning smoothies. That $5 sure can go a long way with just a little knowledge.
