Carol Rue Williams
October 16, 1947 - April 1, 2026

Carol [Dean] Rue Williams, born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, died April 1, 2026. She was the daughter of John Rego Rue IV and Evelyn Dean Rue, (deceased) both of Amory, MS.

Carol attended Amory High School where she was a star athlete. She excelled in basketball and track and she was a proud Amory Panther Cheerleader. Carol shortly furthered her education at Mississippi State University (MSU). Prior to attending MSU, Carol fearlessly ventured to Yellowstone National Park where she worked and explored. One of Carol's self-proclaimed talents she mastered during her time in Yellowstone was her ability to debone a full trout side table. Although we never actually witnessed, knowing Carol's determination and adventurous spirit, we absolutely believed her.

She married Jerry Dale Williams in 1969. While Jerry attended and graduated from MSU, Carol decided to jump right into professional life ranging in various roles until she joined and remained in banking. Carol loved and often talked about her time as a receptionist, teller and ultimately the loan department. Her welcoming demeanor and genuine desire to help people came through not only in her work but the impact she had on her customers. For many years, Carol also taught swimming lessons, diving lessons and tennis lessons.

Carol was a longtime blood and plasma donor. She felt it was a small kindness that could have a big impact. She was a committed volunteer to the Red Cross where she would assist in packing and creating packages for those in need. She would often talk about how, with just little effort, you could lend a helping hand and feel so good afterwards.

Carol loved her Amory Panthers, Mississippi State Bulldogs and Dallas Cowboys. She loved a greasy hamburger and french fries. She loved her dog Max. Carol loved laughing until she cried with her best friend, Dorinda Miller. She loved to swim, dive, water ski and play golf. Carol loved to dance, especially her grandkids in the kitchen. Carol fiercely loved her family.

She will be remembered for her smile, her ability to make anyone feel welcome, her generosity and her "carolisms".

She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years and her adored daughters and their families: Wendy Rue Williams, her husband Rich Blumenthal; and their son, Billy and daughter, Janie, of Boston, Massachusetts; and Lindsay Carol Williams and her son, Tyce Williams-Key, of Southaven, Mississippi.

A celebration of Carol's life will be held on Tuesday, April 7 at 2pm at the EE Pickle Funeral Home. Prior to the service, there will be visitation at 12pm. Following the service, the burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery. A reception will be held at St. Andrew's Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be Robert Tate, Skip Miles, Dr. Tom Monaghan, Larry “Smokey” Witcher, Billy Blumenthal, Tyce Williams-Key. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Herndon, Gerald Pate, Dr. Jim Monroe and Dickie Miller.

Although our family sincerely appreciates your generosity, we request no flowers, gifts or food. We ask that if you do purchase, you donate to a local charity or break bread with a neighbor.

Donations to her memory may be made to any of the following nonprofits:
The Women's Alzheimer's Movement www.womensalzheimermovement.org
Girls LEAP www.girlsleap.org
House of Grace www.houseofgracedv.org

Lastly, and most importantly, we ask you to honor Carol by performing a random act of kindness. We all carry loads that no one sees. Sometimes, the smallest act of kindness makes the largest impact.
