*** Joyce Finney ***

Amory – Betty Joyce Finney, 83, became totally healed and began her new life in Heaven on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. She was born on December 1, 1942, in Tuscaloosa, AL, to the late Luther Preston Bell and Inez Dearman Bell.

Joyce grew up in Monroe County and attended Becker School and Amory High School. She eventually married her dearly loved husband, James Frank Finney, and together they were blessed with over 62 years of marriage and two children. Joyce worked for Amory Garment Company from young adulthood until retirement.

Joyce took great pleasure in using her gifts God gave her to serve her family, friends, church family, and community. From cooking food for loved ones & friends during times of grief, sickness, or celebrations, to serving in her local church in any way she was gifted, Joyce lived a life of service and devotion, and sharpened her faith by studying her Bible. Joyce was an active member of First Baptist Church in Amory where she enjoyed participating in her ladies’ Sunday School class and in earlier years, enjoyed singing soprano in the choir. She will be missed immensely by her church family.

In her free time, Joyce enjoyed sewing and was an incredible seamstress, making clothes for herself, her mother, her daughter, and her granddaughters. One special memory is making the American Girl doll clothes for her granddaughters, who both have proudly saved them for their future families.

She also enjoyed reading, making beautiful cakes, canning the yield from the garden, visiting friends & shut-ins, attending her exercise class, and enjoying fellowships with ladies in her church family. She especially enjoyed hosting and celebrating holiday celebrations in her home, but most importantly, she cherished hosting her children and their families, trying to make every detail special.

Joyce was extremely close to her parents and enjoyed the earlier years of camping at Grenada Lake with her entire family tree, which was a close-knit family. Her best friends were her sisters, Barbara, D**o, cousin Agnes, and brother, Ralph. They enjoyed many trips to the mountains, shopping, eating out, but they were most happy just sitting around the patio or living room, sharing in each other’s lives.

Of all of her relationships, she most enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and investing in their lives. They were the apple of her eye, and they all knew they were deeply loved and adored by her. Her absence is deeply felt by her family, and every detail she invested in their lives will be passed down through many generations to come.

Joyce worked extra hard to make sure her children could attend and graduate from college. She was very proud of their successes in their professions and grateful for the children the Lord gave her.

Left behind are son, Frank Carey Finney (Tam Markham Finney), Amory; daughter, Rosemary Finney Davis (Charlie Davis), Hattiesburg; grandchildren, Megan Finney, Luke Davis, Sydney Claire Davis, Hunter Davis, and Levi Davis; sister, Barbara Thompson; brother, Ralph Bell (Peggy); a host of well-loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Frank Finney; in-laws, Jim Frank Finney and Lillian Johnson Finney; sister, Virginia Oliver, brother-in-law, Wayne Thompson; Sister-in-law, Sara Finney Hall, and cousin, Agnes Shields.
