Our next free Childbirth & Parenting Preparation class is Tuesday, September 30, from 5pm-8pm!

Our comprehensive childbirth preparation class is taught by our experienced labor and delivery nurses to help you prepare for your birthing experience. This class covers the latest evidence-based information to help you prepare for pregnancy, delivery, and the postpartum period. Some topics include comfort measures for labor, car seat instruction by state police, Q&A with our pediatricians and more.

We encourage expectant couples to attend around 28-30 weeks.

We are thrilled to introduce Anne Campbell, MSN/Ed, RN, FNP-BC, who has joined our urology team. Anne has more than 30 years of nursing experience in a variety of settings, including intensive care and medical-surgical units, primary care practices, and organizations that serve those who are medically frail or have intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Most recently, Anne was a family nurse practitioner at The Arc Lexington and in private practice as a health and wellness consultant. She also serves as a preceptor for nurse practitioner students at several New York colleges and universities.

Anne earned both a Bachelor of Science in nursing and a Master of Science in nursing with an emphasis on education from St. Joseph’s College of Maine. She also has a post-master’s certificate in family nurse practitioner from Sage Graduate Schools (now Russell Sage College).

She is a member of the Nurse Practitioner Association New York State, American Academy of Developmental Medicine & Dentistry, and the NYS Intellectual Disabilities/Developmental Disabilities (ID/DD) Nurses Association.

Join us in congratulating our recent VIP (Values in Practice) award recipient, Tara Roberts!

Tara works as a physical therapist in our outpatient physical therapy department. Tara was nominated by a patient who said, "Tara demonstrates the St. Mary's core values in the work she does at the Outpatient Rehab Physical Therapy office. I had the pleasure of being a patient of hers these past three months. Her kindness and compassion show visibly through her work. Her story on how she became a Physical Therapist is incredible, and her love for helping people ranges from small children to elderly adults. Tara always provided exercises that could be easily done at home and explanations on how truly interconnected the body is. You can tell she is deeply knowledgeable in the field and passionate about her patients and their progression. Tara provided many opportunities to ask questions, have great conversations, and laugh when it was needed most. Even on my toughest days, Tara always brought a smile to my face and never made me feel that my aliments were limitations but an opportunity to become stronger in the end."

The Cancer Services Program at St. Mary’s Healthcare of Fulton, Montgomery and Schenectady Counties will hold a women's screening day, at St. Mary's, Rao Pavillion (urgent care entrance) September 17 from 3 pm to 5 pm.

If you are an uninsured, eligible woman between 40-64, we can help you get a free breast exam, mammogram, pap smear and pelvic exam. Also, if you are eligible, we can supply you with an at-home FIT kit to test for colorectal cancer. Please call (518) 841-3726 to see if you are eligible.

Introducing Dan Elinskas, RN, MSN, MBA, our new associate director of surgical services.

Dan has more than two decades of experience managing ambulatory surgery centers, perioperative services, and capital projects. He comes to St. Mary’s from University of Texas Health San Antonio, where he served as the lead project manager for a $496 million multispecialty and research hospital. Additionally, he was responsible for planning design and clinical operations and led the Clinical Quality and Value Analysis Department.

Dan’s previous roles include nurse manager, PACU and surgical services, at Glens Falls Hospital, and assistant nurse manager, outpatient surgical center, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

He has a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Excelsior College in Albany, a Master of Science in nursing administration from the University of Texas, Arlington, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa. He also has two perioperative care certifications.
