Beading with 3 of my favourite colors this evening. (The camera does not capture the different shades in the beads) The inspiration of the wings came from one of my teachers, Jessica Hernandez. She is so creative with her pieces. 💜 Edging left to do once I decide what this piece will become.

During Removal, Chickasaws remained strong in bringing the culture they had in the Homeland to present-day Oklahoma. From the ways of life to traditions passed down, Chickasaws remain connected to our ancestors through preservation of our culture.

The Chickasaw Cultural Center (CCC) preserves Chickasaw culture and history for visitors to learn about where we came from. They hold many archival objects, resources and connect Chickasaws with the Homeland.

: The Chickasaw Cultural Center also has some environmental aspects to the campus that are directly from the Homeland in Mississippi. The CCC brought a Black Willow tree to plant in one of the gardens. The tree was used for basketry, arbors and the treatment of fever, headaches and coughs.

To connect with Chickasaw history and culture, visit the Chickasaw Cultural Center to see the tree and more. Go to ChickasawCulturalCenter.com to find out more!
