Prayer for Celebrate Recovery Leaders

Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the faithful men and women who lead in Celebrate Recovery. You have called them to walk alongside others in their journey of healing, and we are grateful for their obedience, compassion, and strength.

Lord, surround each leader with Your wisdom and discernment. Fill them daily with Your Holy Spirit so they may guide others with grace, humility, and truth. Give them courage when they grow weary, patience when challenges arise, and joy in every victory they witness.

Protect their hearts from discouragement and remind them that their labor in You is never in vain. May their own recovery journeys be a testimony of Your power and love. Help them lead not from their own strength but from Yours.

We lift up their families, their health, and their spiritual walk. Bless them abundantly for the seeds they sow in others.

In Jesus’ mighty name we pray,
Amen.

Heavenly Father,

We give You all the glory and praise as we celebrate 9 years of healing, restoration, and transformed lives through Celebrate Recovery. Thank You for every person who has walked through these doors seeking hope and found Your grace. Thank You for the leaders, volunteers, and community who have faithfully served, supported, and stood beside one another through victories and valleys.

Lord, continue to bless this ministry. May it remain a place of safety, truth, and growth. Raise up more people to lead and share their testimonies, so others may be drawn to Your light. Let Your Spirit continue to bring freedom to the brokenhearted, strength to the weary, and purpose to those who feel lost.

We commit the years ahead into Your hands. Do even more than we can imagine, and let every life changed be a testimony of Your goodness.

In Jesus’ name,

“What are the qualities of a sponsor?

“Though good advice lies deep within a counselor’s heart, the wise man will draw it out.” (Proverbs 20: 5, TLB)

When you are selecting a possible sponsor, look for the following qualities:
1. Does his walk match his talk? Is he living by the eight principles?
2. Does she have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ?
3. Does he express the desire to help others on the “road to recovery?”
4. Does she show compassion, care, and hope, but not pity?
5. Is he a good listener?
6. Is she strong enough to confront your denial or procrastination?
7. Does he offer suggestions?
8. Can she share her own current struggles with others?”

The road to recovery is not meant to be traveled alone. You will find that we actually need three relationships. The most important is a relationship with Jesus Christ. In addition, you need the relationship of your recovery group or a church community. Last, you need the relationship of a sponsor and accountability partners. Identifying a sponsor and accountability partners is CRITICALLY important before you begin Principles 4 through 6, in which you work on getting right with God, yourself, and others. Recovery is a team sport!

A sponsor is someone who has completed the four participant’s guides. He or she has worked through the eight principles and the 12 Steps. The main goal of this relationship is to choose someone to guide you through the program.

An accountability partner is someone you ask to hold you accountable for certain areas of your recovery or issues, such as meeting attendance, journaling, and so forth. This person can be at the same level of recovery as you are, unlike a sponsor, who should have completed the eight principles or 12 Steps.

The main goal of this relationship is to encourage one another. You can even form an accountability team of three or four. The accountability partner or group acts as the “team,” whereas the sponsor’s role is that of a “coach.””
