⚠️ WHAT YOU’RE LOOKING AT ⚠️

This is a laser-induced retinal burn.

A brief laser exposure entered the eye and was focused by the eye’s own lens, concentrating the energy directly onto the retina — similar to using a magnifying glass on paper.

What caused it?
• ❌ No laser safety goggles
• ❌ Wrong wavelength or insufficient OD
• ❌ Reflected or scattered laser energy — not even a direct hit

What happened next?
• The retinal tissue overheated instantly
• Cells were permanently destroyed
• Vision loss occurred in milliseconds
• No pain. No warning. No recovery.

This injury did not require prolonged exposure.
One pulse was enough.

Once retinal tissue is damaged:
🛑 It does not regenerate
🛑 It cannot be repaired
🛑 Vision loss is permanent

This is why laser safety goggles are not optional, not negotiable, and not something you “get used to skipping.”
