We're excited to introduce another new team member, Sally Adams! Sally has joined our Maquoketa office and we are happy to have her on the team! 🩵💜
Sally holds a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Iowa and has a dual Masters of Science degree in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from Drake University. Sally has been in the mental health field since 2017 and became a Licensed Counselor in 2022. She has had previous careers in social services and as an adult educator.
Sally provides office-based services in the Maquoketa office as well as virtual sessions.
Sally works with individuals ages 18+ as well as couples and families. She specializes in providing support and substantiated interventions for those with unseen disabilities like stress disorders (PTSD), traumatic brain injuries (TBI), and substance use disorders (SUD).
Using assessment, psycho-social education and unconditional positive regard, Sally supports her clients through identifying symptoms and rehabilitation techniques. Sally has an extensive background in client care, is a culturally competent therapist and shares her education in brain health with clients so they may understand their symptoms (such as depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances or self harm ideation) and heal. She believes in lasting changes that result from mental health care.
Sally is specially trained in working with first responders and survivors of domestic violence and others who experience chronic stress. She supports couples with the Gottman technique and is a person centered therapist, utilizing Radical Acceptance and DBT tools. She is an advocate for vulnerable populations and uses her own experience to inform her work.
