Eating after a FAST is big Part of why we FAST!
Some simple truths about fasting; Fasting is NOT easy, however practice and support will improve how we fast.
Food cravings, irritability, nausea, discomfort, weakness can all be associated with fasting.
Metabolism slows during a fast and many of our hormone levels will fall during a fast. (there are excellent strategies to make for robust improvements in our hormones post fasting)
Essentially, during a fast our Cells are in panic regarding the lack of fuel. In this "threatened" state we begin to unravel stored glucose called glycogen and eventually we will burn our fat stores. This is Called "ketosis" the driver of our metabolism when finding food within and feeding our brains with ketones rather than glucose. During this time our cells are getting hungry and work to clean up cellular debris in efforts to scavenge.
So Much benefits with fasting, however the more I work with patients I discover how impactful reintroduction to food is in optimization of body composition. Fasting prepares our foundation site and during "re-feeding" we build NEW cells on this foundation.
