✨Labor Support Workshop✨

Alaska has some incredible providers and birth workers striving to improve outcomes and birth satisfaction for Alaskan families💛

Here I am volunteering to receive sterile water injections. Sterile water injections are a tool used to help with back pain in labor. Yikes! They sting 🐝 🐝 🐝 🐝 but it can make a difference for those hoping to avoid pain medication.

‼️ IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR WESTERN ALASKA RELIEF DONATIONS ‼️

This update comes directly from Kelsey Wallace, President of the Alaska Native Heritage Center, who confirmed this information with the Association of Village Council Presidents (AVCP) in Bethel.

🚫 Please STOP donating used items for now — both within Bethel and from outside of Bethel. The community is currently inundated with donations and working hard to organize what has already arrived.

💙 A huge thank you to everyone who has already donated — your generosity and compassion have been incredible.

AVCP is now requesting NEW, essential items only, which can be sent or dropped off at Lynden Air Cargo.

📦 Please label boxes clearly on the top with what’s inside.

What an honor to watch a mother deliver her baby on her time, as she wants, with POWER… incredible. Absolutely incredible. AND so beautiful to see providers support that.
I feel fortunate to attend so many beautiful births with safe, knowledgeable, supportive midwives!

Your birth team matters- I believe it’s even more important than where you choose to deliver. Home, hospital, birth center… all good options for different reasons- make an informed decision and pick a team (doctor, midwife, doula, support people) that you trust!

Setting boundaries for visitors after baby’s arrival can be a challenge. This door sign is a fantastic reminder to loved ones of this family’s wishes.
Keeping visits short, bringing a prepared meal, grocery shopping, laundry or caring for siblings are some of the ways loved ones can support the Remembering how much rest is needed after birth is crucial for the new family. Additionally, it’s important to prioritize skin to skin, nursing and bonding.
