❗Feelings Friday Check-In ❗

Let’s take a moment to pause and tune in…

Sometimes we default to “good,” “fine,” or “stressed”—but emotions are more complex than that. Expanding our emotional vocabulary can help us better understand ourselves, communicate with others, and respond to what we truly need. 🧠

✨ Try this:
Pick one feeling from the wheel and ask yourself—
“What might this feeling be trying to tell me?”

There’s no right or wrong answer here—just awareness. And awareness is a powerful first step in caring for your mental health. 🌱

If you’re wanting more support in understanding your emotions or building coping skills, our team is here to help. Reach out to schedule an appointment— 907-762-8668

🤝💙 Stronger Together: Supporting Service Members & Families in Alaska 💙🤝

At The Cohen Clinic, we know that mental health support works best when it’s accessible, connected, and community driven. That’s why we’re proud to partner with the AKNG Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program —meeting service members and their families where they are and making sure they know they’re not alone.

Reintegration can come with challenges—transitioning roles, managing stress, reconnecting with loved ones—but it also opens the door to growth and healing with the right support.

Our partnership with Yellow Ribbon helps bridge that gap, turning moments of uncertainty into opportunities for connection, care, and resilience.

If you or someone you love is navigating the reintegration journey, we’re here for you—every step of the way.

💜 We Purple Up for Military Kids! 💜

April is Month of the Military Child

At The Cohen Clinic, we’re proud to stand with our military-connected kids this April—celebrating their strength, resilience, and the unique challenges they navigate every day.

This month, we’re highlighting something powerful but often overlooked in mental health: the senses.
Our sensory station (pictured here!) is a hands-on reminder that emotional regulation doesn’t always start with words—it often starts with what we feel, see, hear, smell, and even taste.

Military kids experience frequent transitions, new environments, and big emotions. Sensory tools can help:
✨ Ground the body during stress
✨ Build emotional awareness
✨ Create a sense of safety and control
✨ Support coping in moments of overwhelm

Whether it’s a calming scent, a textured object, or a quiet visual focus point—these small tools can make a big difference.

To all military children:
Your experiences matter. Your feelings are valid. And your strength is seen. 💜

☀️ As the Alaska sun starts to linger a little longer, we’re soaking in the sunlight—and reflecting on some pretty special winter moments.

Over the past several winter weeks, our team had the opportunity to partner with Gold Star Peak, Inc. for Military Mondays at Alyeska Ski Resort. We loved connecting with the community from our table in the day lodge—sharing resources, warm conversations, and of course… cookies and cocoa. 🍪☕

Events like these are a powerful reminder that mental health support doesn’t only happen in an office. It happens in connection, in community, and sometimes even in ski boots after a long run down the mountain.

As the seasons begin to shift, so does our energy—making space for reflection, renewal, and continued connection. We’re grateful to be part of a community that shows up for one another in every season.

This powerful video podcast — hosted by 12th Sergeant Major of the Army (Ret.) Jack L. Tilley — is a space built for veterans, active duty service members, military spouses, and families to explore real topics that matter in life after service. Your Next Mission brings candid conversations, expert insights, and resources to support meaningful transition and wellness.

We’re especially proud to share that our own Case Manager Brandi Salvatore previously joined Cohen Veterans Network on the podcast to talk about accessible, barrier-free mental health care — highlighting the incredible work our case managers do across the network.
