First of all, we are so very grateful for the outpouring of support. Each and every one of you has helped relieve some of the stress that our family is under, and we are so very fortunate.

As far as an update, Jadyn is still taking the chemotherapy she started last month. The impact it has made is still unknown, but there has been positive progress seen in some regards. Every day is different right now, and Jadyn has been struggling with severe nausea, lethargy, and pain. Some days she is able to break through it, others not so much.

We are still working with the team Columbia University Irving Cancer Research Center to see if the clinical trial options are feasible. It is honestly an uphill battle- with regards to Jadyn's condition as well as making it a financial possibility. The team there does seem to be committed to helping us figure this out, with the team at Alaska Oncology stepping up to do everything they can as well.

Many would assume that a person participating in a clinical trial have medical expenses covered by the pharmaceutical company that is conducting the study. Turns out, they only pay for the drug that is being researched and any test that may be needed for their research. All medical care is on the patient. And a patient in a clinical trial must transfer all of their care to the team at the medical center where the trial is being conducted. Basically, Jadyn may be moving to NYC is the clinical trial happens. That means she would loose her health care coverage in Alaska. Hopefully, she will be able to get coverage through the State of New York, but that may take time. The other day, I was told that we would feasibly need to be able to prove that we have $200,000 set aside for Jadyn to participate in the clinical trial.

As I said, we are not certain that this will be where the journey ultimately takes Jadyn. We are looking in to using the GoFundMe funds to pay for health insurance, but there are technicalities about the state change that makes that hard to know if it will happen, or when it can happen.

Jadyn was discharged last night and able to go home and cuddle with her sweet kitty, Iroh. She has at-home oxygen which is helping and more antibiotics.

We’re hunkered down, especially after all of this snowfall. She meets with the oncology team on Monday to discuss the next steps.

Update from Jadyn directly:

Well, they basically just told me at the hospital that most of my swelling and lack of oxygen is likely due to my rapidly growing tumors, and they are going to try to get me to a point where I can go home ASAP. I kinda think their intention is so I can go home to die in comfort. I don’t know. They’ve been wrong before, they can be wrong again.

Wasn’t sure what pictures to use for sharing this info, so I tried to find happy recent ones.
New goal; move to Bozeman and own a snake.
I truly love all of you, and pray every day that I find my miracle here on Earth to be here for a very long time. Please know, in physical form or not, I will always be loving you.

In no way is this me giving up or calling it quits!!! I could never🖤🖤🖤 I just simply love you.

I brought JD to the ER yesterday. Her oxygenation was low, she was very pale and weak, and very nauseated. They put her on oxygen, gave antibiotics for suspected pneumonia, and admitted her. She's now having a blood transfusion and is very out of it from morphine (as the pain started up again).

I am not sure what the day will bring, or how long she'll be here at Alaska Regional. The doctors are very very concerned. The disease burden is extremely high at this point, impacting multiple systems that until recently were operating efficiently. The options for treatment are minimal and not very powerful compared to the cancer.

They've talked to Jadyn about where things are at and the next options. The social worker will work to get hospice set up at home. She wants to get stabilized, go home, get the new treatment, and have the support of hospice for managing everything. No one is giving up but hospice can provide care and support to lessen any pain or suffering as she continues to fight.
