This November, we are proud to be observing Warrior Care Month. We honor the resilience and sacrifice of wounded, ill and injured service members, their families and caregivers. Their journey toward recovery is a testament to the human spirit.

At Chris Kyle Patriots Hospital, we understand that the invisible wounds of war — like Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression and anxiety — require specialized, compassionate care. Our dedicated inpatient and outpatient programs are designed to support active-duty military, veterans and their families, providing the tools and environment needed for healing and successful reintegration. We are committed to helping our heroes navigate their recovery journey and reclaim their well-being.

For our employee spotlight, we would like to introduce you to Josh, one of the phenomenal therapists providing services in our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Josh has been a practicing clinician for the past five years, specializing in trauma recovery, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and substance use disorders. He's had the unique opportunity of providing clinical therapeutic services to many of the demographics found in Alaska. This includes many of the different cultures within our diverse populations, veterans, active military members and first responders.

Josh states that therapy is one of those unique medicines that we often turn to when it is our last resort, yet each of us can find it beneficial. He believes every person is truly the expert of their own life and therapy is simply a means to provide healing and direction when there appears to be no other turns left to make.

Josh's role includes providing both individual and group counseling services that include, but are not limited to, modalities such as somatic desensitization and cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapies, while maintaining a person-centered approach.
