“At the end of the light, seek more light”. This world looks so dark lately. I especially see in the healthcare and spa world, especially LMTs and estheticians (LMTs are in both industries) the celebration or justification of a human beings death. Backtrack 20 years and you would have found me on the streets of Mexico wrapping and cleaning an infected wound of a person who lived on the streets, was addicted to drugs and doing tricks to pay for their medications for HIV/aids. It can be easy to judge the lifestyle and disagree with it. But everyone has a story. The only feeling that belongs is compassion. It doesn’t matter who ends up on your table, because you will get all walks of life, religions, political affiliations. It’s not our job to argue our point, it’s our job to listen with compassion and treat to the best of our abilities. If this triggers you then check your heart or maybe get out of healthcare.

I’ve heard more complaints lately about other estheticians charging $200+ for an hour facial. I respect their work, but I charge a flat rate. I offer custom facials so if you need guasha, there won’t be a $20 add on charge. Come get a facial from me with all the fancy add on services and don’t empty your bank account.

Don’t skip out on recovery days no matter how busy you are. There is a trend to over stretch and cold plunge but I don’t agree with either of these. I’m a firm believer in dry sauna and cool showers for contrast therapy and as hot as you can handle epsom salt soaks with cold shower contrast while drinking plenty of water. Cold plunges are a stressor on your whole system and cause your muscles to tighten You get the appropriate benefits with contrast therapy. But allow your muscles to fully relax, no need to prove anything in recovery, it’s not time to make yourself mentally stronger, it’s meant to allow your body to heal slow and steady. Recovery should be enjoyable. Cold and stretching has a place. For most people this isn’t it and they cause further injury. I would never in a million years recommend a stretching franchise. (You know who I’m talking about) they’re big enough to absorbe the legal problems from all the injuries they cause.

Also depending on your sport or event the massage will completly change. Always use well qualified licensed massage therapists.

2 years ago I signed up for esthetics school at Brow Chica Brow Bar/ esthetics district. Unfortunately after day 1 it became obvious that the owner was severally addicted to drugs and the academic advisor was covering for her. Both those fine ladies took off after the owner blew our tuition on drugs leaving me and the other students in a terrible situation. I reached out to the state board and was told “there is nothing we can do about how the schools conduct themselves” I was threatened with lawsuits for defamation and it was all around an ugly situation. I was fortunate to enroll in Metroasis and loved every minute learning from Sigel and Sue. I’m very grateful I was still able to become an esthetician, but I had to fight for it. Today I found out I am finally getting my tuition reimbursed through ACPE. I’ll be putting my tuition reimbursement into further training this fall. Stay tuned to see what’s coming next. 🥳.
