👏👏 👏 The Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation (HANF) — ANTHC’s charitable arm 🤝 — is thrilled to share the winner of the 2026 Luminary Awards’ “Legacy and Leadership” category: Congratulations to Charlene Nollner of Copper River Native Association (CRNA)🏆

HANF’S Luminary Awards are designed to recognize individuals, teams, and organizations who demonstrate exemplary dedication and make outstanding contributions to the Alaska Tribal Health System. 🩺 The Legacy and Leadership Award recognizes an outstanding Tribal health leader and expert in their field who has displayed a long-term commitment to helping improve the Alaska Tribal Health System.

Charlene was selected and honored for her leadership in advancing regional health priorities and transforming Tribal health care delivery in the region. She is recognized as the driving force behind the transformation of CRNA into a comprehensive Tribal health facility that offers integrated services, including primary care, pharmacy, laboratory, and behavioral health, dramatically improving access to and the quality of care for Tribal members.

In addition to her work with CRNA, Charlene has served on the ANTHC Board of
Directors, helping to shape statewide policy and ensure that the voices and needs of the Ahtna people are reflected in health care decisions across Alaska.

“She definitely opened a lot of doors for us,” shares CRNA member Eileen Ewan. “She made us more aware of things we can do, and that we’re capable of doing.”

Memorial Day weekend is a time to honor and remember military members who gave their lives in service of our country. It is also the unofficial start to summer and a time when many of us get out on the water in Alaska.

If you are spending time on the water this weekend, or any time this summer, please remember to use these boating safety steps:

• Ensure the whole family has access to and uses flotation devices when near water.
• Keep young children away from water unless supervised by an adult.
• Always wear a life jacket on an open boat or deck – regardless of weather, boating experience or swimming ability.
• If boating, file a plan so someone knows where you are and when you are expected back.

We all deserve to have more good days. 🫶 A good day looks different for everyone. For Cy Two Elk, spending time outside with his kids — and playing baseball together specifically ⚾️ — is one way he supports his mental health, and the mental health of his family.

“Mental health is really important because it allows you to see the value in who you are as a person, and approach each day positively," he shares.
