📢 Important Update: Peer Power Self-Advocacy Summit
We want to share an important update with our community.
We have recently been informed that the Trust will no longer be providing funding support for conferences outside of the conference they sponsor and are fully responsible for. As a result, the Peer Power Self-Advocacy Summit is no longer receiving Trust funding.
Because of this change, Peer Power and our Board of Directors have made the difficult but necessary decision to implement a $200 event fee per person for all summit participants, including self-advocates and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). This fee helps cover essential costs such as lodging, meals, transportation, accessibility supports, materials, and staffing.
đź’ˇ Why Saving Now Matters
With registration opening in the next 1–2 months, this is a great time to begin planning and setting aside small amounts toward the event fee. Even saving $25–$50 per week can make the cost more manageable by the time registration begins. We encourage individuals, families, and support teams to start budgeting early so everyone who wants to attend has the opportunity to participate fully.
We understand that cost matters. While this fee is significantly lower than most conferences across the nation, we also recognize that $200 may still create a hardship for some individuals. If this event fee would be a hardship for you or someone you support, please let us know by mid-to-late January so we can better understand the impact.
Our commitment remains the same: creating a summit designed by and for people with disabilities—focused on leadership, self-advocacy, and community.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support of self-advocates
