Alaska Health Services, the management company for Alaska Trauma & Acute Care Surgery (ATACS), is seeking an experienced Full-Time Medical Assistant to join our outpatient surgical clinic team.

ATACS is a group practice of general surgeons in Anchorage providing comprehensive surgical consultative, operative, and post-operative care.

We’re seeking someone who is:
* Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT, AAMA, or ARMA required)
* Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced clinical environment
* Skilled in patient communication with strong interpersonal abilities
* Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage scheduling and patient data accurately
* Experienced with medical terminology and clinical workflows
* Able to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
* Professional, calm, and compassionate in stressful situations
* Team-oriented and committed to excellent patient care

𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐦 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬:
* High school diploma or equivalent
* 1–2 years experience in a surgical practice setting
* Strong customer service and computer skills
* Ability to lift up to 20 lbs

🔹Ability to read and write in order to prepare the medical records chart required.
🔹Must possess analytical skills, have the ability to concentrate on details when reviewing patient data in the computer system and be skilled in customer service principles by creating a pleasant atmosphere along with ability to communicate clearly in person and on the phone
🔹Must be able to establish & maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, coworkers, and the public and demonstrate ability to multi-task including performing tasks within time frames assigned
🔹Must posses the ability to adjust to shifting priorities; stay organized in a changing environment; stay focused during stressful or difficult situations; exhibit comfort with ambiguity
🔹Must be able to lift/carry up to 20 pounds

I am on the board of Anchorage Project Access (APA). As you may (or may not) know, APA provides donated specialty medical, dental, and mental health counseling for low-income Alaskans without health insurance. ATACS is a proud donator of care to these patients and it warms our hearts being able to help these folks – the patients and the entire team at APA are a joy to work with.
