With COVID cases at high levels we have 2 staff members working from home. We continue to try and do as much as possible using telemedicine. Please try to utilize telemedicine for visits if possible understanding we will need to occasionally see patients in the office.

All of our necessary forms are on line and we have extensive links to health care information. We also have a password protected system for patients to sign documents.

If you have to come by the office please wear a mask per Anchorage mandate. Please do not come to the office if you have any symptoms of COVID or recent significant COVID exposure.

USPSTF has a draft statement moving the age for colorectal cancer screening to age 45. This is the age already recommended by the American Cancer Society. The American College of Gastroenterology has not changed its recommendations at this time. Insurance often will not cover colonoscopy at age 45 without other risk factors or symptoms but it appears that the recommendations are moving to age 45 and that will change.

We have been chronically short staffed during the pandemic. It has been a combination of employees leaving due to previous plans or not wanting to work in the medical field during COVID. In addition, hiring has been difficult due to the pandemic. We have also faced issues not wanting to hire with a provider leaving short term and knowing we would have to let people go. That time has passed and we are now fully staffed and should not have any of the issues of the past 6 months. We apologize for all the problems and look forward to getting back to normal. That includes in-office and telemedicine appointments and open access procedures. Our website has also been updated in the past months with easy to fill out on line forms and links to extensive patient information on gastroenterology and liver conditions. Please visit soon. akgastro.com

State mandates are lifting completely for all elective procedures June 15, 2020 and may lift sooner. Get your screening or surveillance colonoscopy set-up today with Dr. Randolph or Dr. Sweeney through our office.

During the COVID-19 crisis we are doing telemedicine for clinic visits. It requires you to have a we**am or phone with a camera and a high speed internet connection. We can provide an appointment and link for those appointments. We encourage you to set this up if you need to see us.
If we simply need to do a surveillance procedure for colorectal cancer screening or other indications we should be able to do most of this with our Open Access program. We just need to obtain all necessary medical history changes and obtain all necessary paperwork. We can they be ready to schedule the procedure when COVID-19 restrictions end. This should make the process easier and more efficient.
Thank you for choosing us for your gastroenterology needs.
