I’ve been reflecting a lot on this entire YTT experience. And after our final circle, listening to everyone’s reflection I realized the thing I’m most passionate about (and always have been) is holding space for people to find power and freedom and light! And growing up I did that in religious settings. I wanted to save the world, plant churches, be a missionary & bring everyone into the light (which I believed, at the time, was Christianity) but now I see that light is within each and every person. I still want all the same things for people. But instead of teaching them to look outside of themselves for something to save them, I want them to look inward and feel connected to source (whatever that is for them)
Maybe it’s because I know what it feels like to be stuck in the dark AND to find freedom and healing. But that’s what I want people to experience. I want them to feel the power of coming home to themselves and finding the light within.
And THAT is what yoga is.
For me… yoga started as a good exercise on rest day. It was purely physical.
Slowly but surely, it transformed my entire life. And I think we’re doing yoga a big disservice by only focusing on the asana. Because it’s so much more than that.
It’s peace. It’s connection. It’s love.
It’s real s**t. It’s not outdated.
Honestly I think we need these ancient teachings now more than ever. And so that is what this YTT is about.
Yea, we learned anatomy and postures and how to feel them in our bodies and teach in accessible ways. But asana is only 1 tiny part of 8 limbs of yoga. And so this training was much more than learning how to teach a vinyasa practice. And the growth I saw in each human brings me to tears. Truly. What a powerful, beautiful experience.
I am so thankful for who created this curriculum with me and though she could only be apart of one weekend physically, she was involved in every step and we had hours of meetings to prepare for each weekend and she always made me feel so supported.
And thank you to all the students for trusting us and being on this journey with us. What an honor to be a small part of their own journey 🤍
