Right now, the Senate is considering a bill (S. 1531) that would ban commonly owned fi****ms under the label of “assault weapons.” This bill was introduced by Adam Schiff (D-CA) on 4/30/2025.

But let’s be honest about what this is: A direct attempt to chip away at your God-given right to self-defense.

This bill doesn’t stop criminals.

7 Tips to Stay Safe Buying Items from Social Media Platforms

These 7 tips will keep you safe from violent people who use those platforms to find their next victim:

1. Always pick up items. Never have the seller come to your house

2. Always meet in a public place: many police departments often allow and encourage people to do online marketplace exchanges in their parking lot (but check your local department first)

3. Take a friend along (strength in numbers)

4. Be extra wary when buying expensive items: many thieves prefer to “sell” expensive items because they know you’ll be coming with a larger wad of cash

5. When possible, check out the sellers profile before agreeing to meet. Easily done with a platform such as Facebook Marketplace

6. Inform a friend or relative that you are meeting someone so they know to check in on you later

7. Use your instincts: if something feels off, it probably is. And even if it isn’t, you shouldn’t take a risk for a used toaster or set of used snow tires.

BONUS TIP: Carry concealed and think through EXACTLY what you’d do if the sale goes downhill. Being mentally prepared is beneficial
