Caring for Alaskan’s using Advanced Manual Therapies and Medical Massage to Co-Create Health!
Athena Swinford LMT,CST provides care for Infant/child/ adult cranial sacral therapy, self-care, Headaches, migraines, concussions, whiplash injuries, high force impact trauma, Pelvic Pain, TBI, Sciatica, emotional/physical trauma including PTSD, geriatric, acute and chronic pain management and post -surgical care.
Athena is dedicated to finding the root cause of her client’s symptoms. In a session, you can expect a thorough verbal intake looking for previous injuries, traumas, changes in lifestyle and stressors that may contribute to the presenting ailments. Athena is a lifelong learner who dedicates time daily to exploring advances in alternative medicine and understanding how the different body systems interface each other. She offers her clients the opportunity to see their body as a whole physiological system where muscles, joints, organs, nerves and a client’s experience play a role in living a pain free life. .
Athena graduated from the Alaska Learning Institute with her massage therapy license in the Spring of 2007. She is an Advanced CST practitioner and has studied extensively with the Upledger Institute of Cranialsacral therapy. After many years of using CST in her treatments, Athena discovered the missing piece to assist some of her most complex clients conditions. Visceral and Neural manipulation and the understanding that the body is 3 dimensional in side and out and that organ positions and pressures around nerves can be contributing to pain. Her studies with the Barral Institute have brought a well rounded and full set of tools in her tool kit to address even some of the most complex conditions her clients may be experiencing.
Athena’s technique seamlessly blends Deep Tissue Massage, MyofacialRelease, Trigger Point Therapy, Cupping, Cranial Sacral Therapy, SomaticEmotional Releases, Visceral Manipulation and NeuralManipulation Techniques.
