Thank you ANSEP 2024! Congratulations and good luck to the young men and women who attended our course through ANSEP in preparedness for summer internships across the nation. Represent yourself, ANSEP, LTR, and Alaska well, as you go do bigger and better things.

We ran 50 students through a three day course covering Delayed Medicine, Aviation Crash Land and Water Survival, and Bear Awareness & Spray.

A special thank you to .anchorage and for allowing us to use their local sites for water survival training and field survival, respectively.

We just finished up a great week of Wilderness Safety Leaders Course ( Bear Guard)
5 days of training
2 days of range work
1 day in the field
Skills and knowledge that are irreplaceable.
We instruct our bear guard students in many different situations they may encounter as the head remote team safety leader. Wilderness medicine, wildlife behavior and defense, fi****ms knowledge and hands on and much more.

Now is the time to start being “bear aware!” Students from Ahtna Native Corporation graduated from our two-day wilderness medicine and one-day bear shotgun courses. We travelled to Glennallen, AK to provide this course and will do many more like it all across the state of Alaska.

Always remember to be alert, travel in groups, and make plenty of human noise. Bears recognize the human voice and may avoid it or at least not be surprised by the person belonging to the voice. They may instead be attracted to, or investigate, unfamiliar noises such as bells.

What a day for LTR and our community! We started the day off with 23 students at the range with shotguns, and it took four LTR staff to keep it safe. A long day but we weren't done. After the range we filled our schoolhouse with 40 boy and Girl Scouts plus their parents.

Went in tired, came out thrilled after an evening with these kids. Showed them we cared, and they should too. A great time!

Great job kids! Never stop learning, never stop improving.
