Our Story
There are many reasons to seek counseling and psychotherapy. My expertise is working with couples and indivduals to overcome relationship struggles as well as providing treatment for managing and overcoming the symptoms of mood swings, depression, and anxiety. I work with adolescents as young as 13 years and help parents and teens hear and respect each other by focusing on communication at a deep level that moves beyond the concepts of "active listening" and "I statements."
I have been licensed for more than 22 years and have worked with all major mental illnesses including schizophrenia and disabling bipolar disorder. Although working with severe mental illness is no longer the focus of my practice, my experience working with these disorders gives me a broad understanding of how the mind works and how to help people overcome their unique struggles.
I invite you to visit Alaska Family Counseling on Facebook by clicking the Facebook icon on any page of this website. There you will find articles on various mental health topics. If you are a current client and would like to leave a comment, or review, I welcome you to do so there. On the left hand side of this page you will find a link to an article that explains my approach to couples counseling and what to expect as we work together. In addition, under Forms and Articles, you can download the intake paperwork required at your first visit. You can sign and bring them with you to save time. Other articles I have written related to therapy topics we will cover can also be downloaded there.
