There are three different portions of the spine: lumbar (lower back), thoracic (middle back), and cervical (neck). As your Anchorage chiropractor knows, each of these areas is susceptible to degradation and damage, but some more than others. Spondylosis can affect all three spinal sections, but we’ll discuss thoracic spondylosis in this article.

Thoracic spondylosis is a term for arthritis of the middle portion of the spine. As we age, the bones, cartilage, tendons, and discs of the spine can all degrade. When this happens in the middle back area, it’s known as thoracic spondylosis.

How to Sleep With a Bulging Disc in the Back or L4 L5?

"Although you may not realize it, most back pain occurs in the lumbar or lower spine. So if you’re having low back pain, it’s likely in one of two places near where your spine meets your pelvis. In fact, it’s estimated that around 95% of low back herniations happen in the L4-L5 spinal segment or the L5-S1 Lumbosacral joint.

Since nearly 80% of the population will suffer from back pain at some point, you have lots of experience to pull from when it comes to sleeping with low back pain. And since studies show that back pain can start a vicious cycle of poor sleep, which leads to more pain, which leads to worse sleep, it’s important to find relief quickly."

If you have piriformis syndrome you may already be aware of how painful and problematic it can be. Not only can it lead to troublesome spasms in the piriformis muscle, it can make recovery that much more difficult. The best sign it’s improving is a systematic retreat back up toward your buttocks. But, oddly enough, that sometimes involves an increase in pain.

Regardless, with piriformis syndrome, sitting can be far more complicated than just plopping in the nearest chair. If you sit the wrong way, you can aggravate the piriformis muscle. That’ll lead to more spasms, more pain, and more problems.

In light of that, let’s discuss a few steps you can take to modify your sitting habits which, in turn, can help alleviate some of the issues your piriformis syndrome may be causing (these tips come from your local top-notch chiropractic clinic in Anchorage – Better Health Alaska):

While a diagnosis is important, there are some things you can do to get rid of neck pain.

Whiplash is the result of a sudden impact which forcibly propels the head to the front, the back or the side. One moment, for example, you’re idling at a stoplight and the next, you’re slammed into by a car from behind. While your seat belt holds your body in position, your head moves forward and back so abruptly that your neck is thrust out of its proper position. Keep in mind, whiplash can also occur when the head all of a sudden moves to the side or backwards, and is not limited to sudden front and back movements.

Once out of position, the neck becomes strained as does everything attached to it, including the tendons, muscles of the neck, and ligaments. This is why whiplash pain is not limited to the neck – it can spread to the shoulders and arms when it brings on spasms in the muscles. The lower back can be affected too.

"It’s fairly easy to identify a winged scapula. It’s not easily confused with common issues, such as a knot in the shoulder. Since the shoulder blades sit just under the skin on the upper back, it’s easy to visually identify an abnormal protrusion. A winged scapula will stick out at an angle from the back. Some cases cause a more apparent protrusion, but nearly all cases result in protrusion of one or both shoulder blades.

Unfortunately, the underlying causes of scapular winging are a little harder to pin down. There are several different causes, each bringing different symptoms and requiring different methods of treatment. First, let’s take a look at the symptoms."

"If you’re struggling with back pain, you should definitely get a standing desk and a chiropractic adjustment! Getting your spine aligned is important for your health, and it’s also important to keep that spine aligned by standing more. Stop sitting at your desk all day long! Increase your blood flow, improve your back pain, and get a standing desk. As a chiropractor, I know how important it is to keep that spine healthy, and standing more is how that happens!"
