Atlas: AKA C1. The 1st vertebra of the spine. It is responsible for most movement in the cervical (neck) region. Part of the brain stem passes through its structure. If C1 becomes subluxated (misalignment that creates pressure on the spinal cord or nerve), it can interfere with various functions throughout the body.
