Prior to 1962, physicians were not always able to admit patients or schedule surgeries as quickly as they wanted to with only one hospital in town. Due to the growing population and the ever-increasing need, a committee formed to coordinate raising funds for building another hospital. Pledges from over 17,000 individuals, along with significant gifts from many organizations resulted in a successful campaign of over 3.25 million dollars to build Community Hospital Anderson. When the hospital first opened, it was considered a state-of-the-art facility. Over fifty years later, we are still focused on bringing the latest medical advancements to Madison County. Many of our services allow patients to stay close to home for their health care needs. Just a few examples of our advancements include our da Vinci® robotic surgical system, Clinical Research Center, neurosurgery program and our Center for Advanced Wound Healing. Community Hospital Anderson was built with funds raised entirely by the generous organizations and individuals in this community. It remains the only locally owned and operated hospital in Madison County. Throughout this time, we have remained steadfast in our mission to provide high quality health care here in Anderson, for the community that built us.

The nurses at Community Hospital Anderson have spent an entire year preparing the gift of comfort and joy for patients who have to spend Christmas in the hospital. They raised money, chose a soft and colorful fleece, and spent months hand‑making blankets filled with warmth and love. ❤️

And on Christmas Day—when most people are home with family—many of the nurses come in on their own time just to place these blankets into patients’ hands.

Have you ever heard of Holiday Heart Syndrome? This is an irregular heartbeat caused by excess drinking.

Mix that with stress or dehydration, and you could experience atrial fibrillation (AFib) — a heart rhythm disorder. Being aware and knowing the warning signs is important, but you can prevent Holiday Heart Syndrome altogether. Limiting how much alcohol you drink and pacing out your drinks can reduce your risk and keep your holidays healthy.
