Today is National Childhood Bereavement Awareness Day. At Hospice of the Upstate, we recognize how deeply the loss of a loved one can impact a child, emotionally, socially, and mentally. No child should feel alone in their grief, and raising awareness helps ensure they feel seen and supported.

Our Bereavement Department offers free grief counseling for children and adolescents, both in our offices and through no-cost school group sessions in our community. We partner closely with school guidance counselors to provide supportive materials and resources so students have what they need during difficult times.

The holiday season is a traditional time to celebrate and reflect on the cherished memories of those who are no longer with us. We cordially invite you to participate in our 21st Annual Sounds of Peace collectible bell program. Your gift will help support the medical, emotional, and spiritual services provided to over 900 patients and their families this year.

In December our Memorial Tree will burn brightly in Rose Hall. You are invited to join us for the Annual Memorial Tree Lighting Ceremony honoring our loved ones. Personalized tags will adorn the tree and you may pick up your hand-inscribed bells.

Sweetness overload! 🍋 Evie and Ramsey Cauthen set up a lemonade stand to raise money for our hospice patients a few weeks ago. Today, they got to deliver $168 for our organization! Their mom, Lindley, is one of our amazing Hospice Nurses, and we’re so proud that she’s passing on the values of giving and community support to her daughters. Thank you sweet Evie and Ramsey!

This year’s theme, “We See the WHOLE You,” reminds us that hospice care is about so much more than medical support — it’s about honoring each person’s story, spirit, and individuality.

At Hospice of the Upstate, we see the veteran, the mother, the grandfather, the friend, the whole person behind every patient.
