Thank you to the doctors, nurses, coordinators, clinicians, and participants of color at the forefront of clinical research. Without the knowledge and expertise of Black clinical research professionals, and the willingness of Black patients to participate in clinical trials, it would not be possible to develop new treatments, vaccines, devices, and cures to diseases for diverse communities. We see you and we celebrate you.

VitaLink Research (“VLR”), a GPP II portfolio company, acquired Greenville, SC-based Anderson Medical Research, an Upstate Pharmaceutical Research Office (“UPR”). UPR focuses on providing Phase II – IV clinical trials with a respiratory therapeutic focus. The addition of UPR will enable VitaLink Research to provide high-quality clinical research to a greater number of subjects throughout the Carolinas.
“The acquisition of Upstate Pharmaceutical Research enables VitaLink to further establish itself as the leading wholly-owned clinical research site company in the Carolinas,” said Steve Clemons, Co-Founder of VitaLink Research. “The addition of UPR enables us to partner with the fantastic team that Dr. Krishna Pudi mentored throughout his career. Dr. Pudi has a record of exceptional subject recruitment and retention while adhering to highest quality standards.”
“This transaction is a clear demonstration of VitaLink’s ability to execute on its strategic plan of acquisitive growth,” said Stephen Weaver, Senior Vice President at Great Point Partners. “VitaLink will continue to acquire and partner with clinical research sites throughout the United States to become the leading independent clinical research site business.”
About VitaLink Research In 2004, a group of highly established clinical research professionals and one of South Carolina’s most active pulmonary practice joined together to form a high quality, community based, dedicated research center. Our goal was to create a trial site combining the clinical expertise of the pulmonologists with years of experience in clinical research to provide safe, rapid, and accurate data to sponsoring drug companies.
Within our first 12 months we grew to three sites, each founded on the same principals. The network has grown dramatically year after year since the beginning and continues to develop a scalable model for accurate research as a service to volunteers in our communities.
VitaLink is a leading clinical research trial network with 11 wholly-owned and dedicated research sites, each operating under one brand with unified processes and Standard Operating Procedures. How does that set us apart? Simply put, many physicians engage in clinical research as an adjunct to their medical practices. It’s common to see physicians fail their first trial and not continue in the industry. VitaLink offers our sponsors continuity and deliver the highest quality data rapidly because we allow our trial sites to focus on research and research alone. We’re proud to call ourselves “wholly owned” because it allows us to standardize and maintain best practices and procedures across our network to protect research volunteers and guarantee accurate results.
Our goal today remains consistent with our original aspiration: align leading physicians across different specialties with highly efficient dedicated research professionals into one network to deliver trials as their main priority and comprehensive integration of quality results from trial to trial. Our initial research sites outstanding platform remains the benchmark for success, which has been finely tuned and tested (FDA and PMDA) over the past decade.
We believe our exceptional research benefits not only our subjects, but also our communities, and brings quality that sponsors can trust to stand when tested by the regulatory authorities.
