It’s hotter than a pepper sprout out there! 🥵
And while we all might be cranking up the AC, older adults need a little extra care to stay safe and comfortable this season.
Here’s a few summer tips for older loved ones:
💧 Keep drinks flowing — Hydration is key. Try lemon water, herbal iced tea, or fruit-infused water for a refreshing twist.
🌿 Stick to shade — Morning and evening are best for fresh air. Think porch chats, garden strolls, or birdwatching under a tree.

It’s hotter than a pepper sprout out there! 🥵
And while we’re all reaching for iced drinks and fans, older adults need a little extra care to stay safe in the summer heat.
Here’s your caregiver-approved summer safety toolkit for aging loved ones:
💧 Hydrate with variety – Water is essential, but try chilled fruit, herbal iced tea, smoothies, or even popsicles to keep it fun and refreshing.
👒 Dress smart – Light, breathable clothing and wide-brimmed hats help regulate temperature and protect sensitive skin.
🌬️ Cool it down – If there’s no AC, use fans, cold washcloths, or even a bowl of cool water for hands and wrists to provide quick relief.
🌿 Time outdoor activities wisely – Early mornings or evenings are safest. A short stroll, porch chat, or birdwatching can bring joy without overheating.
👂 Connect with care – Sometimes, just being present — listening, sharing a memory, or sitting together — is the best form of comfort.
Let’s keep our older adults safe, seen, and supported this summer.

Every client Lynn has cared for has loved her because of the care that she not only gives to her client but also the peace of mind she gives to the family.
Furthermore, she has done an amazing job caring for her current client and running the household. She keeps up with all her client’s appointments, knows his favorite meals and keeps him on a daily routine. The sons also depend on Lynn and trust her to make decisions for their dad.

On a personal note, Lynn is happily married and has three children. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, her pets, listening to music and reading. She describes herself as being a caring person. She gives all the credit to her parents and grandparents for the examples of the life they lived and the caring nature they always showed her as a child growing up.
Lynn enjoys caring for the senior population because she said they need care as they age. She sometimes feels that seniors are left behind and they just need caring people in their lives. She says you can learn a lot from seniors with all their advice and life lessons they share. “They just make my heart smile!”, Lynn says.
Lynn has been a part of our Home Instead team since 2016. She has a caring heart, and a calming spirit and is a blessing to every senior she cares for. She truly is an asset to Home Instead Anderson, and we are a better company because of her love and care for our seniors.

Wriston and Catharine moved to Anderson in 2009 to open Home Instead Senior Care. Wriston is very familiar with the Upstate of South Carolina as he graduated from Furman University. He has a love and passion for seniors and had always wanted to own his own business. After practicing Law for 12 years in a large corporate firm he left practicing Law and opened the Home Instead Senior Care office in Anderson, SC in 2009. After 10 years of serving seniors in the Anderson community Wriston and Catharine feel they have been able to give the senior population what they want, and that is stay in their own home safely and independently as they age.
To Us It’s Personal is the Home Instead Senior Care motto and Wriston and Catharine live by that as they both have their own personal experiences with seeing their grandparents and now their own parents age and need the services of caregivers in their homes. This is very personal to them and because of that they have the compassion and understanding and can put themselves in the shoes of both their clients and the client’s loved ones.
Quality is the most important thing to Wriston and Catharine both on the client side and caregiver side. As of 2019 the Anderson Home Instead Senior Care office is number sixteen for quality in the whole Home Instead Senior Care network. Wriston and Catharine said, “We work hard on a daily basis to make sure both our clients and caregivers are happy. We do have a Client Care Coordinator who makes home visits to every client to make sure they are receiving the care they need, and our caregivers are given extensive training before entering the home of a client and go through a mentor program once they are hired.”
Wriston and Catharine have been married for 24 years and have two children, one in college and the other in graduate school. They love spending time with their family and enjoy being outdoors hiking or being anywhere on the water.
They said, “Owning Home Instead Senior Care in Anderson has truly been a blessing. Knowing that what we do day in and day out for our senior population is a very rewarding thing.”
