How is coaching different than therapy? It's a great question and has a wonderful comparision to physical training and physical therapy.
When you go to a physical trainer the job is to tend to muscular strength and stretch your limits to an optimal level of stress. Physical therapy is when there is a known clinical concern that says we've gone too far.
Coaching is to fine tune patterns, skills, and habits to a point that extends to our growth zone. It's a stretch in manageable discomfort to help flourish. Therapy is when we're working with an individual at a time when there is a mental health concern interfering with full functioning.
Coaching is very forward movement. Therapy can be about rebuilding foundations.
