🕯️ Honoring Our Healers: The Nurses Honor Guard 🕯️
At Andrews Corgill Funeral Home, we believe every life deserves to be remembered with dignity and depth. For those who dedicated their lives to nursing, the Nurses Honor Guard offers a powerful tribute rooted in compassion, tradition, and gratitude.

👩‍⚕️ What is the Nurses Honor Guard? It’s a volunteer group of current and retired nurses who attend funerals or memorials to honor fellow nurses with a ceremonial farewell. Dressed in traditional white uniforms, caps, and navy capes, they perform the Nightingale Tribute—a brief but deeply moving ceremony:

A reading of the poem She Was There

Presentation of a white rose

Final Roll Call

Closing with The Nurses Prayer

Gift of the Nightingale lamp to the family

The entire tribute lasts about five minutes, but its impact is timeless.

🌟 Open Invitation We welcome any RN, LPN, NP, nursing student, or retired nurse who would like to join our Honor Guard. Your presence and service can bring comfort and meaning to families in our community.

🎥 See the Tribute in Action This past week, we were honored to host a Nurses Honor Guard service at our chapel. Below is a video clip that offer a glimpse into the grace and reverence of this farewell. They beautifully reflect the spirit of the Nightingale Tribute and the heartfelt presence of the Honor Guard.

💙 Why It Matters Just as military, police, and firefighters receive final honors, nurses deserve recognition for their lifelong service to healing and humanity. This tribute brings comfort to families and shines a light on the quiet heroism of those who were always there.

📣 Want to Learn More or Get Involved? If you know a nurse who should be honored, or if you're a nurse interested in joining the Honor Guard, we’d love to connect. Reach out to us at Andrews Corgill Funeral Home or comment below.

Let’s continue to honor legacy, service, and the healing hands that shaped our community. 🌹

🕊️ A First for Andrews: Honoring Nurse Gloria Garza with the Nurse Honor Guard 🕊️ We’re honored to share something deeply meaningful happening at Andrews Corgill Funeral Home for the first time.

In tribute to the life and legacy of Gloria Garza, a beloved nurse who served with compassion and dedication, we will welcome the Nurse Honor Guard—a volunteer group of nurses who perform a ceremonial farewell for their fellow nurses.

👩‍⚕️ What is the Nurse Honor Guard? Much like a military tribute, this ceremony recognizes a nurse’s lifetime of service. Dressed in traditional white uniforms, nurses stand in silent vigil, read the Nightingale Tribute, and symbolically release their colleague from duty. A white rose is placed, a lamp is lit and extinguished, and the nurse’s name is called three times—each moment steeped in reverence.

This will be our first time hosting this powerful ceremony, and we are deeply moved to do so in honor of Gloria Garza’s extraordinary life.

💐 “She was there—in moments of joy, sorrow, and healing. And now, we honor her with the dignity she gave to others.”

📸 The photo below is Gloria—her warmth, strength, and grace live on in every life she touched.

We invite our community to learn more, witness this tribute, and join us in celebrating the legacy of care that Gloria leaves behind.

Understanding Cremation: Your Choices, Your Peace of Mind

At Andrews Corgill Funeral Home, we believe every farewell should reflect your values, your story, and your comfort. That’s why we offer two cremation options—each with its own rhythm and meaning.

💠 Direct Cremation A simple, dignified option without a formal service beforehand. Families often choose this when they prefer a private goodbye or plan to hold a memorial later. It’s cost-effective and flexible, while still honoring your loved one with care.

💠 Cremation with Service This includes a viewing or ceremony before cremation. It allows family and friends to gather, share memories, and celebrate a life well lived. We can help you personalize every detail—from music and readings to keepsakes and photo displays.

No matter which path you choose, we’re here to guide you with compassion and clarity.
