☺️ Good Afternoon! I’ve been super excited to share with all of you this absolute blissful and relaxing treatment I learned over the weekend! Definitely unique and an outstanding gift we are able to learn about.
It is called Ayurvedic Shirodhara and Abhyanga. Some interesting things about such name is Ayurvedic is composed of two words “Ayu” and “Veda” Ayu means life and Veda means knowledge or science. So the two words combine give the meaning “science of life” or “the knowledge about life”.
Shirodhara is pouring of oil, milk, or medicated buttermilk on the forehead continuously for a specific period of time.
“Shira” means head
“Seka” or “Dhara” means continuous flow
Abhyanga means anointing the body with oil. It is performed with warm oil and the course of the massage is rotated through seven traditional positions of the body including sitting, prone “face down”, side lying and supine “face up”. It is done in a certain pattern, direction and certain order until completed.
Prior to the Shirodhara the practitioner will anoint the body of the patient with oil. Ksheerabala oil is the oil most commonly used for this purpose and the massage itself is called Abhyanga.

•Headaches
•Insomnia
•Improves Mental Clarity
•Improves Memory
•Lower Anxiety
•Aids in Meditation and Concentration
•Calming

Contraindications:
•Pregnancy (any stage)
•Low Blood Pressure
•Rash, Cuts, Skin Problems
•Acute Stage Head-Neck Injury
•Head Tremors
•Drug- or Alcohol Intoxication
