Did you know there's a best way to sit on the toilet?!

Get those feet supported, knees slightly above hips, and belly button slightly forward. While there, work on some slow breathing into your belly and back! This will help get those p**ps out easier and help you fully empty your bladder.

Physical therapy can help constipation? How?! 👇

- Breath: Make sure you're getting your breath into your abdomen and out of your shoulders. That will help your pelvic floor relax and allow the p**p to come out!

- Pelvic Floor: Making sure your pelvic floor is relaxing while p**ping is key. If the muscles can't relax, the p**p can't come out!

- Abdominal Mobility: If you have scar tissue or a lot of tension in your abdomen, your colon can move f***l matter more slowly, leading to more constipation! PT can work on your abdomen and make sure things are moving smoothly.

- Lifestyles Changes: Drinking more water, moving your body and upping the diversity in your diet is super helpful!

- Proper Toileting: Proper toileting posture is key! Get those knees above hips, feet supported and slightly lean forward.

Constipated? Try this!

1. Make sure your feet are supported with your knees slightly higher than your hips. A squatty potty under your feet can be a big help!

2. Drink plenty of water! Ideally, we should be drinking half our body weight in ounces to help support our body.

3. Up your fiber and diversify the food that you eat. Try varying the types of plants you eat as well as increasing the amount. See if you can eat 30 different plants in a week to improve your gut microbiome!

4. Pelvic PT! Dr. Sarah can help make sure your pelvic floor is relaxing appropriately, your breath is functioning optimally, and your colon is able to move well in your abdomen.

Why choose Cultivate PT?

- 1 on 1 sessions for a full 60 minutes with Dr. Sarah. We don't pass you around to other providers and definitely don't see more than 1 patient at a time.

- Find the why. We look to try and find the true cause of your symptoms to get them to go away AND keep them from coming back.

- Whole body approach. We don't just look at the pelvic floor because it doesn't work in isolation. We look at the whole body to give you the best care and get you back to what you want to do without dysfunction.
