On With Life is proud to host a free Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Fair designed for individuals living with Parkinson’s, care partners, family members and community supporters. Whether you’re newly diagnosed, exploring resources or looking to stay active and connected, this event offers practical tools and meaningful support.

Attendees will rotate through interactive learning stations focused on brain health, movement and exercise, communication strategies, adaptive equipment and more. Between sessions, guests can explore resource tables and connect with trusted community partners, including therapy providers, fitness experts, caregiver resources, insurance specialists and local senior services.

It was a great day at the Iowa State Capital for Brain Injury Advocacy Day. Hundreds of Iowans whose lives have been impacted by brain injury, including our persons served, gathered to share their story. Together we advocate for the rights of those we serve!

February is Recreational Therapy Month! 🪁🎨🎧🫧 Every day our amazing rec therapists work to incorporate recreation and activity-based interventions to address individual physical, cognitive, and social needs. We are so grateful for the role they play in enhancing the overall well-being of our persons served!

We celebrated Valentine's Day with our annual Sweetheart Dinner — a favorite tradition amongst our staff, persons served and their families! 💗🏹

Our Ankeny inpatient and outpatient programs recently received two Xcite2 devices allowing persons served to complete high repetitions of functional activities with the support of functional electrical stimulation (FES). Therapists across all disciplines will be able to integrate this technology into activities of daily living (ADL) sessions, hand strengthening, postural re-education, and walking.

These devices were funded by generous donations from the Chris Norton Foundation, the Noble Foundation, and Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack & Hotel. Thank you for allowing us to continually raise the bar for our persons served!

On With Life staff and persons served had a great time with the students at DMU! Our persons served had an afternoon of skilled therapy while students received hands-on training for functional interventions to target mobility, balance, and strength.
