Last year, Kristina Feldhans welcomed her baby girl into the world, but faced a terrifying situation when she hemorrhaged after a C-section.

"I lost consciousness due to severe blood loss. Thankfully, the medical team acted swiftly to control the bleeding, and when I regained consciousness, they informed me of what had happened." Kristina received several units of blood, from compassionate blood donors.

"I am forever grateful to the selfless blood donors who saved my life..." she said, "...because of them I'm here to experience all the firsts with my baby girl and other children."

She is now committed to donating blood, to make sure others can receive the same gift of life that she did.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Blood Drive is almost here!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Marv, from Sully, Iowa, for his incredible contributions over the years. After dedicating many impactful decades to organizing blood drives, Marv has chosen to retire from his role.

Sarah Halverson, a student at the University of Iowa, began feeling sick around Thanksgiving of 2023. Following visits to urgent care, she went to Blank Children's Hospital, where she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

She required platelet transfusions on multiple occasions. But, thanks to the kindness of selfless platelet donors, she anticipates completing her treatment by April 2026!

The majority of individuals who require blood products are those, like Sarah, who suffer from cancer or other blood disorders. Although donating platelets takes a bit more time, the impact is incredible!
