Our fellows and residents had the opportunity to work two big concerts in one week! Luke Bryan’s Farm Tour came to Livingston County, and Zach Bryan performed in the Big House’s first ever concert which was the largest ticketed concert in US history. Both Livingston County and HVA EMS crews did an excellent job on these busy nights!

Pictured Rocks edition!
Our EMS fellows joined the UM EM Wilderness Medicine elective for a 5-day backpacking trip, traversing the entire 42-mile Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, where all learners gained experience in wilderness medicine and participated in a Mass Casualty Incident drill. This is a yearly event our EMS fellows participate in!

Huge welcome to Anthony Han, MD, one of our two new fellows for the 2025-2026 academic year! He joins us from Texas, where he served as a chief resident. Watch out, in his free time he hones his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and (possibly the most dangerous) pickleball skills.

One of the crown jewels of the EMS Fellowship is of course Michigan Football! Fellows have the opportunity to staff at the in-stadium Medical First Aid Station, which is located right behind the student section. The station is staffed with Huron Valley Ambulance paramedics, Michigan Medicine nurses (many of whom have EMS experience), resident physicians and medical students. In addition, the fellow sometimes has a chance to go on-field to work with the team physician response. Here are a few pictures from some of the game days and drills over the past few months. Since Election Day is upon us, here’s a few pictures from some recent campaign-related events! Our Fellow had the opportunity to work as part of the medical support for both major Presidential campaigns during their Michigan visits. This was an incredible opportunity to learn more about large scale Event Medicine, while working in cooperation with both local and federal level agencies. Special thanks to Huron Valley Ambulance and Livingston County EMS for allowing us to assist, and shoutout to our ground personnel from HVA, City of Ann Arbor Fire Department - Government, Ann Arbor PD, and Michigan State Police for all of the great work you’ve done. Happy Fellowship Match Day! Today we are very pleased to welcome the 2025-2026 EMS Fellows, Dr. Anthony Han and Dr. Luke Wohlford! Dr. Han will be joining us from UT Southwestern while Dr. Wohlford will be joining us from the University of Vermont! Look for them out and about in Washtenaw/Livingston County this summer! Fellow Updates! One unique experience for our Fellows is the opportunity to engage with University of Michigan Medical School students, Michigan Medicine Emergency Medicine residents and faculty in the Wildnerness Medicine rotation. In addition to learning about basic Wildnerness/austere medical principles, Fellows get to tag along on a 6-day backpacking trip to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Climbing at Red River Gorge is another experience for those who want climbing training, our students really got a kick out of it! Finally, exploring the depths of Buckner Cave near Bloomington, Indiana affords opportunities to learn about enclosed space extrication techniques and basic tenets of recreational caving. Here are a few pictures from these events, enjoy!

Account takeover! My name is John and I am the new EMS Fellow for the 2024-25 year. It’s been a really fun and busy start to the fellowship year: on scene calls, EVOC training, event medicine at the MIS, motorcades, and awesome flights/critical care training with University of Michigan - Survival Flight are just a few of the many educational experiences our fellows have during their training.
