The University of Michigan Health’s Healthcare Equity Consult Service (HECS) expanded service to the Ypsilanti Health Center (YHC) last fall. Yesterday a panel discussion shared lessons learned from the partnership. HECS highlighted how the principles of healthcare equity (i.e., trust, communication, and connection) are embodied by the YHC leadership and clinical care teams to serve the community and Michigan Medicine patients and families.

Congratulations to three members of the Michigan Medicine team, who were recently named 2025 Health Care Heroes by Crain’s Detroit Business!

The recipients are:

💙 Joanne Bailey, C.N.M., Ph.D., director – nurse midwifery
💛 Maria Bobo, D.N.P., director of nursing professional development and education
💙 Erica Marsh, M.D., MSCI, Professor of obstetrics and gynecology.

Health Care Heroes are nominated by their peers and colleagues as champions of transformative change for expanding access, innovating with new procedures or opening doors with new programs.

These three make everyone proud at Michigan Medicine!
