As the holidays are upon us, it's important to acknowledge our emotions as they are. When we are aware of our feelings and what they are telling us, we become empowered to move forward.

When we ignore difficult emotions, they end up controlling us. Here's how embracing emotional agility allows us to deal with the world as it is.

We have a new clinician!

Kristen Baryo is moving here from the west side of the state and joining our practice in addition to her position as a school social worker for AAPS, and is currently accepting new clients (ages 14 and younger).

Kristen has received intensive training in working with children impacted by developmental delays, autism, and severe behavioral difficulties. Kristen has experience treating a variety of childhood disorders, ADHD, anxiety disorders, autism spectrum disorders, depressive disorders, OCD, trauma, and grief. Meet our intern! Alysse is helping us out with several special projects this summer. We're so glad to have her with us for a few months! Here's Alysse in her own words:

"My name is Alysse Wade and I am entering my senior year at EMU, majoring in psychology with a minor in health care administration. I am also a member of the women's track and field team! I am particularly interested in the mental health aspect of psychology, and my goal with helping Ann Arbor Behavioral Health is to learn more from the inside about how to reach out to others about their mental health. After I hang up my spikes, my future plans are to become a sports psychologist to be able to reach athletes like myself!"

Look out for more posts and resources from us this summer, most likely curated by Alysse!
