September is College Savings Month! ๐ Thinking about saving for your child's future education can feel like a big, overwhelming task. But what if you just focused on the very first step?
That's where My Future Fund comes in. We believe that every student deserves a head start, and that's why we're providing the initial deposit for eligible students in Washtenaw County. We've taken that first step for you, so your family can start building on it.
This month, use the My Future Fund account as your starting point. You don't have to contribute a large amount to make a difference. Every small, consistent deposit builds momentum and shows your child that their future is a priority.
There are many ways to continue saving. Here are some of the most common options families use:
Banks and Credit Unions: A simple and safe way to save. You can open a traditional savings account, or look into a high-yield savings account for a better interest rate. This is a great, low-risk option for short-term goals.
529 Plans: These are tax-advantaged savings plans specifically designed for education. The money you contribute grows tax-free, and withdrawals are not taxed as long as they are used for qualified education expenses, which include tuition, fees, and more at a wide range of schools.
