Every year, we step away from the schedules, the charts, the care we pour out day after day, and we gather just as we are.

It’s a reminder of what we believe at our core. That caring for others starts with caring for ourselves. That women deserve to be supported, celebrated, and held with the same intention we give our patients. That joy and rest are not rewards. They’re part of the work.

These moments let us slow down enough to receive a little of what we give so freely. To laugh. To create. To sit shoulder to shoulder. To feel how much we matter to one another.

We’re endlessly grateful for this team. For the kindness, the dedication, the heart that fills every room they walk into.

Join us in supporting Battle for Freedom.

Battle for Freedom exists to support organizations that walk alongside survivors of human trafficking, offering safety, stability, and the space to rebuild life on their own terms. It exists because safety and healing should never be conditional, and because what happens close to home asks something of us.

It takes shape as a Downriver hair and fashion show, where people gather for an evening of creativity, beauty, and connection. There is talent everywhere you look, and something powerful in being together for a reason that extends beyond the room.

The night is organized by Soroptimist International of Downriver Area, alongside local salons, artists, and businesses who understand that care and community are things you practice, not just talk about.

This year, Battle for Freedom is partnering with Sanctum House, whose work focuses on housing, stability, and long-term support grounded in dignity and strength.

We’re contributing to this night because support should be tangible, because joy and purpose can exist side by side, and because this work lasts when it’s carried to Battle for Freedom able to attend, donate, or share the event, you help extend that support beyond one evening.

Today we pause with gratitude for the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the work that continues because of his courage and conviction.

For those who feel called to learn more, reflect, or support that ongoing work, The King Center carries forward Dr. King’s legacy through education, nonviolence training, and community leadership.

We value the health and safety of our visitors and staff. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Freedom Hall will be closed to the public.
