Turn the music up!

Our Life Guidance residents love to dance. The other day, during an exercise class, the music was too good to continue with the class they were doing, and they broke into dance! The 50s music was moving through them and by the end of the time, there were lots of feet tapping and smiles filling the room.

Yesterday, we had a unique presentation from Joe Koz, with J & J Kreations. Joe does laser engraving and showed us how to use a laser engraving machine, gave out handmade engraved keychains to all the residents, and honored the veterans here by giving them a Veterans Creed engraved picture. The residents liked learning about something so new to us all and asked Joe lots of questions about his process of engraving. Thanks for coming to share this with us, Joe! Thank you for all you gave back to our community and our Veterans!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! We had a great afternoon full of green necklaces, corned beef and potatoes, Shamrock Shakes, dancing Irish jigs, playing "Truth or Blarney," finding out who is closest at Atria to being a Leprechaun, and St. Patrick's Day Pictionary. It was a great day to connect as a community! 🍀

Turn the volume up! 💃🪩🕺

We grooved the day away at our Golden Oldies Social Series event. Our karaoke playlist played everything from Motown and Elvis to disco as we reminisced about the dance hall days. Everybody hit the dance floor and enjoyed some old school party treats.

We will be hosting this once per month, so if you know someone who is German and would like to join us next month, please let us know!

For Rosie the Riveter Day, we had a presentation from the Michigan Rosies Association. It was so great to learn about all that the Rosies did at home to help in the war efforts of World War II.
One thing that surprised us is that even people like Marilyn Monroe were Rosies, before she was famous!

There were lots of ways to help in the efforts. For the people who were home, they found that recycling was a great way to help! When they collected recycling, they found that 18 tin cans could make a flame thrower. Recycling became extremely important.

Thank you, Michigan Rosies for your wonderful presentation! Happy Women's History Month!

The residents are excited to host another time we can do this, so please be watching for future events to bring kids to! These type of events are the gift that kept giving. ❤️

We shared in good fortune and great food at our Taste of San Francisco event last week. Dining on Chinatown delicacies, we immersed ourselves in the culture of the neighborhood by watching the Asian American classic film, The Joy Luck Club.

We can't wait to see – and taste – the cuisine from our destination next month!
