Last night during our dinner outing, we got to experience a beautiful moment!
Jyoti's brothers surprised her by meeting us at Bahama Breeze to celebrate Raksha Bandhan with her. This holiday is special to their family, as it symbolizes the bond between a brother and sister. They tied a red string to each other's wrists as a symbol of love and protection. It was a very special moment to witness and Jyoti was very proud to tell us about the tradition. ❤️

Meals wouldn’t be the same without the energy that our Culinary Team brings to the dining room.

While hosting a Culinary Appreciation Month celebration this week, the residents were prompted with the question, "What has been your favorite meal since living here?" We had numerous residents say, "There have been too many good ones that I can't just choose one!" We are so proud of our incredible Culinary team, including our Chef and Cooks, our waitstaff, and our dishwashers. We appreciate each and every one of you! Thank you for all you do. Pictured below are just some of our wonderful kitchen staff, but certainly not all of them. If you see the kitchen staff this month, please tell them how much you appreciate them!

National Gorgeous Grandma Day was a big success around here yesterday! Although we are partial, we think we have some of the most gorgeous grandmas and grandpas in the world and we love to let them know that. Everyone was such a good sport with the photoshoot and one resident, Shirley, even brought out her cake decorating skills and made us some beautiful cupcakes to pass out to everyone! What a great day to honor our gorgeous Grandmas and Grandpas here at Atria!

Our employees are the best! For today's Atria Rewards Party, we had a volleyball tournament for them to participate in, in addition to having snow cones from the Kona Truck, and raffling off some great baskets! It was the perfect way to show our staff how much we appreciate them and all they do for our community here.

To our staff, thank you, thank you, thank you! We couldn't do what we do without you. You are what makes our building what it is, and you make us proud to work with you and even more proud when residents compliment and recognize your efforts. We are so grateful for such an amazing team!

Our Kalimba education was wonderful yesterday! Carl provided a very entertaining education about this traditional African instrument, while allowing the residents to play them and try them out.
"Music provides a spiritual healing. In Africa, the Kalimba is often used for that spiritual healing with people who are not well." It was a very interesting presentation that showed us music and traditions from another part of the world.

Who won the Chef Showdown? Our taste testers agree that Keiry, our Chef, deserved to take home the trophy for best chocolate cheesecake recipe! 🧑‍🍳🏆

Sunny's famous 3D Chocolate Cheesecake recipe won second place, while Jajuanna's Mint Chocolate Cheesecake was a close third! What a wonderful culinary celebration. Thanks to our chefs, Keiry, Missy (with Sunny's recipe), and Jajuanna, and judges, Wayne, Archie, Janet, and Larry, and to everyone who helped whisk up some fun.

On Saturday, July 19 at 1pm, we'll be hosting a Dementia Support Group. This will be hosted by our Life Guidance Director, Ebony, in collaboration with Crystal Hughes from Heartland Hospice. We would love for you to come be supported and encouraged, while we help each other walk alongside our loved ones with dementia. This event is open to our families here at Atria and anyone in the community, so please share this with anyone you know who may benefit from attending this group!
