It was a beautiful fall day as we walked on the trails of the Matthaei Botanical Gardens. Led by three docents, we took in the beauty of the colorful trees, the smell of fallen leaves underfoot, and the pleasure of being together. The docents pointed out the different species of trees, the names and uses of wildflowers, and the animals living around the ponds. Of particular interest was a fawn standing six feet away from us, some beaver-chewed trees, and individual women walking the labyrinth. And then, there was the gift shop. The morning was so enjoyable that we’re thinking of making the Nature Walk an annual event.
