We have a new practitioner! Meet Alex

Alex is a nationally board-certified (NCCAOM) and State of Michigan registered acupuncturist. He began receiving treatments from Eastern Integrative Services founder Anne Biris in his early 20’s during the roller coaster of undergraduate life at The University of Michigan.  Anne’s treatments were a grounding force for his body and mind. After attaining a degree in film and entrepreneurship, Alex adventured through different industries including startups, arts, music, and education before landing in Anne’s office as an assistant and marketing manager. He noticed the magic in Anne’s office emanating from the patients as they were routinely guided by her healing methods towards a life of health and wellness.

Although Alex’s educational background to this point wasn’t based in medicine or the sciences, as a committed lifetime learner, he challenged himself to dive in, led by his belief in Taoism. He attended the highly regarded Pacific College of Health & Sciences in Chicago and graduated  with a Masters in Acupuncture. He treated hundreds of patients through the school’s clinic and through an internship at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center.

His special interests include treating psycho-emotional, digestive and reproductive health as well as pain management and sports-related injuries (as he has had many). Alex utilizes a combination of modalities to maximize results in each session including needling, cupping, gua sha, tui na (Chinese massage), E-stim and moxibustion. His empathetic and caring nature guide his treatment style.  He is dedicated to improving the well-being and bringing harmony into the life of every patient that walks through his door.

Good morning! There are many new followers here and I have been behind in posting. Summer is here and always, it goes by quickly. I hope that you have found ways to rest and take the time to enjoy the small things.

It is busy at the office as usual and we are behind in announcing some important information. We are now in network with Aetna, BCBS, UHC and of course the VA. We are able to check your benefits for you, but do keep in mind that just because we are in network, does not always mean that your plan covers acupuncture. We do our best to verify.

I know that many have been trying to get in for an appointment and have been frustrated by the timeline. We are doing our best to schedule new patients while allowing for our regulars to get complete care. It is a constant juggle and we appreciate your understanding.

Also, we have implemented a new granule pharmacy with Chinese herbs, as of this spring. It is very exciting as already patients have been thrilled with results. I had always hoped to find a way to complete care beyond the scope of acupuncture. It is a perfect compliment, to have the two. I took extensive training and continue to be a part of a cohort for at least the next 6 months under the guidance of TCM Hubb.
