April is Occupational Therapy Month! 💪

Surgery can cause postoperative pain, inflammation, and swelling in the affected area. Occupational therapists are significant in helping patients get back to their pre-surgery physical abilities, if possible. Employee Volunteer Spotlight 🚨

Faith Mbanugo, DNAP, CRNA, was nominated and awarded President Biden's Lifetime Achievement Award for Volunteer Service. She started her drive for volunteerism when she was a 17 year old college freshman, thanks to a professor. She has continued to volunteer in many different fields such as sponsoring academic scholarships, mentoring and advocating programs, and eventually fell into yearly medical missions in 2003. Faith currently volunteers with the Association of Nigerian Physicians in America (ANPA). The surgical cases they cover specialize in neurosurgery, general surgery, orthopedics, gynecological procedures, plastic surgery, and GI procedures.

Faith is off on her next mission today with ANPA, we wish her luck on this mission and thank you for all your hard work and dedication to helping others!

April is National Volunteer Month! ❤️

We want to shed some light on an organization that past and present A4 physicians have volunteered with over the years and continue to do so. Michigan Helps includes medical and dental teams who volunteer in Guatemala, each year they send over 100 volunteers to help over 1,000 people in the area. They perform dental work, surgeries, checkups, and even build stoves and water purification units for those families in need. We are very proud of our team members who continue to volunteer and make an impact on people's live, thank you for volunteering and giving your time!

This week is Patient Safety Awareness Week. The goal of patient safety is to improve the maximum possible reduction in avoidable harm due to unsafe health care globally. The healthcare community wants to find a way that no one is harmed in health care, and that every single patient receives safe and respectful care. Safety in healthcare needs to be looked at not only at the local level, but globally as well.
