On a rest day from a recent backpacking trip, I went looking for one of my friends at our campground. I searched all the logical spots, but couldn’t find her. Eventually I realized that I hadn’t checked in with myself to see where I should look! 🙃 As soon as I took a moment to ask my intuition, I knew exactly where she was–and found her right away.

I started studying intuitive arts in high school, and over the past two decades I’ve apprenticed with energy healers in different traditions. I’ve always drawn on intuition in my work as a coach, and have offered intuitive readings to friends and family for years. Now I’m excited to extend that service to you! ✨

An intuitive reading provides immediate perspective, actionable tools, and a breath of fresh air for your personal and/or business goals and challenges. It’s a window into your life from an energetic perspective, which can include:

- Connecting with spirit guides and ancestors

- Finding clarity about decisions you need to make (Where to live? Which career path to take? Should I move forward with this relationship?)

- Illuminating your life purpose and next steps

- Accessing the truth of your body and spirit for guidance and insight

- Identifying the limiting beliefs that are keeping you stuck and small

- Understanding the emotional and energetic patterns behind physical issues

To celebrate this new offering, I’m giving a 50% discount to the first 10 people who schedule a session! Booking link in bio 💫

Jewish Studio Project is offering a free daily community space this week to process through art. "As we witness the horrors of the events of this past week, it is easy to entrench, to harden our hearts to our shared humanity, to let fear guide us. Creative practice is a way of helping our hearts to remain open, soft and available so that we may be guided to right action. As we say at Jewish Studio Project, whatever you may be feeling, whatever your heart is holding, the page can hold it all."

Several years ago, a dear friend of mine in her 40s passed away. After her death, I took a walk with a mutual friend, and we realized that we had both been inspired to update our wills and advance directives.

Neither of us were particularly excited about doing this, but it felt important, so we came up with a plan to work on end-of-life planning for a minimum of 15 minutes before our weekly walks. This way, we were able to minimize the pain by taking care of it in small chunks, with the reward of social time immediately afterwards.

The tasks that we keep putting off take up mental space, which slowly drains us and keeps us from being present. Often we avoid these things because the thought of doing them is painful, but we don’t take into account the cost of not doing them.

The best strategy I’ve found to tackle tedious tasks is to work on them in small increments so that the pain gets spread out over time. If there’s something you’ve been putting off, look at what’s the minimum you can do on a regular basis that would feel satisfying, and how you can create a structure for it that minimizes willpower. This incremental approach works well for tasks like:

- overhauling your budget
- deep cleaning your space
- filing taxes
- organizing and decluttering

Habit stacking is a good strategy to minimize willpower (doing 10 pushups every day while you’re waiting for the coffee maker), as is external accountability (pay for a personal trainer or agree to meet a buddy at the gym twice a week). Scoring small wins toward a larger goal keeps you motivated, and over time you accomplish a lot more than you could have dreamed possible. 💫

I was an overachiever who burned the candle at both ends in my teens and early 20s. After graduating from college, my system was deep in adrenal fatigue and needed rest. But–I had received a grant for a two month outdoor leadership course in Tanzania that started a month after my college graduation, including the opportunity to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro. 🏔

There was no universe in which my body wanted to go; I needed to let my body recover. A friend came home with me after graduation and she explored DC while I stayed in bed, too tired to leave the house. Yet I could not let go of such an amazing opportunity to fly halfway across the world and be in nature for two months. I had jumped through hoops to apply for that grant and was excited to receive it; I didn’t know when I’d have another opportunity like that.

So I flew to Tanzania and hiked for hours every day, setting up camp each night. There were many amazing moments. Starting in the tropical landscape at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro and watching the ecosystems change before our eyes as we made our way toward the snow at the top was breathtaking. We saw flamingos and elephants as we walked through the plains, and heard hyenas shrieking as they destroyed our water jugs at night and we banged pots and pans to scare them away. It was an epic adventure…but mostly I was miserable, because I was pushing my body so far past capacity every day. 😔

In hindsight, what did me in was saying yes to the trip because I didn’t know when I’d have another opportunity like that. My decision was based on FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out), which comes from a scarcity mindset. If we’re in abundance, we know that the opportunities that are meant for us will find us, so we can pass on the things that don’t feel right for us and trust that the right ones will come.

What I learned from hurling myself halfway across the world because I didn’t want to miss out is that an opportunity is only an opportunity if it is actually meant for me. If it’s not for me, it’s not a good use of my time and energy, because it will bring me out of alignment. What often trips us up is that there are benefits to taking the shiny opportunity. But if it’s not meant for us, the cost–in terms of time, energy, or our emotional state–outweighs the benefits, and saying no is actually the more abundant choice. ✨

If you don’t embrace your life as it is, you’ll be striving to get somewhere else. This takes you out of the present moment, so you miss opportunities that are available for you right now ✨

And because your attention is on what you don’t want, you’ll continue to attract more of what you don’t want—instead of focusing on what’s working and how you are already whole—and amplifying that.

If you find yourself resisting aspects of your life or wishing things were different:

1) Let yourself feel the feels that come up when you imagine accepting your life exactly as it is. Journaling about your resistance can help you understand what function it’s providing for you. For example, sometimes we believe that if we’re satisfied with our lives, we’ll be complacent, so we don’t let ourselves go there. But if we fully understand those limiting beliefs, they let go and we find better strategies to motivate ourselves.

2) Look for how things are perfect exactly as they are. Start a gratitude practice, or track your victories. This engages your unconscious seeking mechanism to notice what is working throughout your day, instead of fixating on what's not.

The energy of success is ‘I have already arrived.’ If you feel successful where you are right now, you’ll magnetize more of that. Embracing your circumstances exactly as they are, while also taking inspired action toward where you want to go, is the magic formula for having the life you want 💫

In the midst of an election season, I had a strong intuitive feeling that the candidate I supported would win. When that didn’t happen, I was devastated. Because I had such a strong sense about how things would play out, I hadn’t let myself consider the alternative, and I felt betrayed by my intuition. When I took a step back and contemplated why this could have happened, I realized that my gut feeling had been correct–my candidate had been on track to win when I got that hit. Then the energy changed, and so did the outcome of the election.

It’s not always clear what we’re tapping into when we get an intuitive hit, or why we might be receiving the information we’re getting. Several years ago, I was driving home from my then-boyfriend’s house, and saw an image of us getting married. I wasn’t actively visualizing what that might be like; I was just driving along and got a download.

I ended the relationship a few weeks later, and felt that my intuition had let me down. I started to wonder why it might have been speaking to me that way. Eventually I realized that the reassurance I received that the relationship would continue is what gave me the safety I needed to let my hair down and be myself, which ultimately enabled me to see that it wasn’t a fit for me.

That intuition gave me what I needed to take the next step on my path; it wasn’t meant to be an accurate picture of my future. Once I could detach from the idea I had in mind of how things were supposed to turn out, I could understand the purpose of the information I had received instead of feeling I’d been duped by my own inner knowing.

We know a lot of things without knowing how we know them, because the conscious mind has access to a tiny fraction of the information that the unconscious holds. Intuition is the voice of your unconscious. If you don’t immediately understand why it’s speaking to you the way it is, take a moment to explore what might be happening beneath the surface. Like with any relationship, paying attention to your intuition and engaging with it makes it stronger. Over time, you learn to trust the information you receive, knowing that it will always provide what you need, even when things turn out differently than you expected.

I have seen so many successful, high-achieving women question whether they should negotiate for fair pay, or ask for a raise.

"When as many as 82% of women report feeling impostor syndrome, it’s pretty clear this is the result of structural inequality, not individual inadequacy. It’s never really been about whether we’re qualified enough, or smart enough, or prepared enough.

Instead it’s about the barriers that are designed to keep us out of those rooms in the first place. It’s leaders looking around and saying that the biggest problem facing women isn’t paid family leave or pay gaps, a lack of childcare or a culture of misogyny; the problem is us." – Reshma Saujani

When my clients are unsure about whether to negotiate for fair pay, I often encourage them to consider how they would approach the situation if they were a straight white cis male. This simple question consistently summons the confidence they need to stand up for themselves. While asking for what you're worth won't single-handedly fix a broken system, it can move the needle–and make a difference in how you feel at work.

If you’re not getting what you want, look at why–not from a victim standpoint but from a place of genuine curiosity 🤔

I’ve been working toward a goal recently, and not seeing change at the pace I would have liked. This led me to reflect on why this was happening 💭

What I discovered was surprising…I realized that I was withholding love for myself and acceptance of where I am right now until I’ve achieved what I set out to do. I saw that what was actually being asked of me was to deepen my capacity to love myself and feel happy regardless of circumstances 💗

It turned out that not yet having reached my goal was exactly what I needed because if I had, I might have tied my happiness to those achievements and missed out on the opportunity to celebrate the progress I had already made, and to love and connect with myself in this moment 🎊

So if you’re feeling frustrated or stuck, take a moment to ask, ‘why is this happening?’ or ‘how is this situation giving me exactly what I need?’ These questions can help unlock a fresh perspective that enables us to feel complete with the way things are right now 🗝️

And the more we can embrace our lives exactly as they are, the more receptive we are to all the things we’re calling in ✨
